Guess the class based GP thing is to account for the expensive armor/weapon needs of the fighter types.

I pity the poor archer. Longbow (composite) = 100gp. Arrows? Armor? Backpack? Who needs em, whack your enemies to death with your bow in melee and make a backpack from their skins and arrows from their bones. Oh, and rations from their tasty flesh.

100gp is okay for spellcasters, for an archer?
...no.

Perhaps we'll all be gifted basic adventuring goods (backpack / arrows / +5 large greatsword / arrows ) by the DM outside of the $100

We could just start with the average by class. That way no special dice rolling need be done for char creation, and each class will get money based on their needs. The archer can get 175g so that he can afford a bow and some arrows. The magus would be able to afford a fancy chain shirt. And the spellcaster would be able to complain that the rest of us gipped them out of 30gp by complaining about the 100gp starting gold.

200 gold start is fine with me if it is too small for some classes.

With my newfound wealth, I shall purchase ten combat trained mongooses. I will carry them in an adventurer's sash and release them upon my enemies. I will name all of them Boo.

Go for the eyes!

I can imagine how that works.  A goblin pops out of the bushes and shouts 'ooga booga'.  You promptly scream, turn, fall, and scramble along the ground as your backpack explodes with mongooses just sort of dropping out to the sides.

Do we have anyone with Charisma yet?  For that matter, who's in the party?

I'm a human, dirty fighter with a giant sword, capable at disabling devices, being acrobatic, being stealthly, climbing, and passable (not good) at bluffing.

I'm doing a magus with lots of book learning. Not so much in the social skills.

As a matter of fact, I have negative charisma. But due to my traits, I get +1 bonus to bluff and diplomacy against creatures that can be sexually attracted to me.
Damn, I am good looking.

yes, we need a party leader.

I vote that we vote for the least charismatic to be party leader - so you Onion?

I'm a dwarven smith, that'd probably be me.  7 charisma at -2, could actually drop lower thanks to racial trait!  Charisma of 5 nets me -3, if I felt like totally bottoming out.

Do we know each other before the campaign starts?  If myself and Paul both have spellbooks, are we assumed to have already shared spells, or do we still need to do that afterwards?

I'm also looking into the logistics of frosted barrels.  Namely, how to enchant the barrel to keep the beer cool at all times.  After that it's just a matter of hashing together a Decanter of Infinite Water (infinite water) and Enhance Water (water to booze) and we'll have infinite booze.

Also, what's the DM's judgement on a mobile forge?  I can buy an anvil, bellows, hammer/artisan tools, a barrel/bucket for water...  Would that suffice to repair items?  I assume that to make new items I'd need to get coal and bricks to make a proper forge and get the metal hot.  At what point would we shift from "Not workable." to "You get 1/4 rate for crafting while adventuring." to "You have a fuckin' mobile forge!"?  Granted that my skills are into armor and weapon craft, primarily.

The world sounds very interesting and should be fun to play in and as an Oracle's main stat is charisma I will have quite a lot of it
