"Either you get off, or I test how well you respond to electric stimuli."

If Mesk ceases his assault, get up and perform the tests.

If not, pull up my knees, plant my feet on Mesk's stomach, and throw him off. Then tase him, aiming for the neck or the spine to throw off his motorics rather than just cause pain. Increase power to combat level if ineffective.
((Apparently he's relented. I shall not let a bopped nose stand in the way of my work!))

((Reposting the battery of tests:))
Create a series of VR tests to determine operational value of the refitted Courier and Blackship craft.

[For the Courier/"The Party Wagon"]
- Create a replica landscape of Hephaestus, specifically one of the important locations the UWM might strike at.
- Populate the vicinity of the site with UWM troops, as they would be if they were taking over the site, dropships, support armor and all.

Determine the minimum safe distance for launching the kinamp-fusion missiles, both for the ship itself and the target. Compare the short-term and long-term damage inflicted on the troops and the area between using the kinamp-fusion warheads, regular 5Kt nuclear warheads, and a Fission Instigator. Compare RU costs for outfitting the craft with either.

[For the Blackship/"The Black Death"]
- Replicate any location of Hephaestus, atmosphere and the space above it.

Compile a list of threats that the UWM fleet may pose. Orbitally launched nuclear missiles, kinetic impactors, small/large asteroids, subcapital ships used for close-range battlefield air interdiction, etc. Spare no expense to audacity. Throw in a hypothetical deployment of an Avatar of War against us, and a scenario where a ship was attempting to flee with something into the jumppoint, and needed interception.

Test how well would the Black Death be capable of responding to the threats, using either the Plasma Cannon, or the Laser Cannon loadout. How much forewarning would be needed to reach the target from the launch site at the base, be the target in atmosphere or in space (i.e. a kinetic impactor can't really be intercepted - but a ship can be stopped from firing if the intent is detected in time).

Have you ever needed to know something about ER, like the price of that snazzy Civic defenders coat or the battlesuit variants, but you just couldn't find it?
Do you find it kinda annoying that you have to write the same newbie introduction every other day, or that people sometimes ask the same questions a thousand times, instead of just looking it up? Did you ever wish all the various information about this game was in one, easy to navigate place?

*drumroll*

Well, then I've got some great news for you : after talking it over with PW, I've created the Einsteinian Roulette Wiki!

This will hopefully become a handy database for everybody to use and edit, cutting down on endless forum searches and grouping all the information different people have gathered.
As with any wiki, the only way for this project to be succesful is if as much people as possible contribute. The wiki is pretty barebones right now, but there should be enough framework to get started. If you have ideas or proposals on new kinds of pages or organising, go to the community page and leave a note. Do try to stick to the format if you can: the more organised and intuitive the wiki is, the easier it'll be to use.

Excited yet? Excellent! Just hop over, take a look, and start editing!

(Oh cool, a wiki.  That's actually a really good idea.)

"Like hell!"
Bop Anton's nose.
"Okay, I'm done now.  Sorry about the mess."
Get off, grab Manuel, wait for the next hapless victim to come along.

No one does good interface design anymore... Well, shutdown can't be that unusual.
Assuming one of these consoles is even connected to the reactor...

Team mate, presumably, for the reason you mentioned.

Is anyone else eve  in the infirmary?
Lets see...thats basically just jim who is in there and not either in a tank of goo or dead from the neck up.

Alright, lets see...Lets say your fusion missile is about 10 kt.  Give it about a mile in any direction; and thats absolute minimum.

5kt nukes are about .7-.8 miles, because this stuff doesn't scale linearly.

And fusion instigator? Those are somewhat difficult to predict, but, well...It would be bigger.

RU cost wise...well For amount of damage done the fission is obviously the most bang for your buck. Problem, of course, being that it's about as "tactical" as lawn mower is "surgical" and  it's going to leave us with one hell of a crater.

5kt standard bombs are in the 5 ru range or so.

10 kt fusion bomb is in the 15 or so ru range.

Those are price per bomb, by the way.

The black ship stuff, well that depends. Assume at least a couple minutes to get out of the atmosphere, then anywhere between 5 and 40 to get to any location on the planet. If they're in space...well that will probably be longer depending on how far they feel like hanging back; but probably within 5 minutes I'd say. As per it's ability to deal with things....well it will probably be able to take out anything landbased they can throw at you, even an avatar. It could take out reasonably large ships too, though it might be taken out in the process; and it' ain't gonna be sinking no battle ships; they'll shred it apart.

(Oh cool, a wiki.  That's actually a really good idea.)

Bluesmoke addicts become more logical and self assured. Occasionally this is dangerous because they may get an idea and then take it to ends that seem unreasonable to most because their minds are working under different assumptions. The point being that, although chances are that he will not, in the long run, decide that attacking you is best; there is the chance that he would. And that could be quite dangerous if he's an addict; since he will be under the impression that not only would it be the right thing to do, but that he wouldn't fear the consequences, including his own death.

Bluesmoke will, given enough time, make a man's thoughts alien to us. Purely logical yet sentient beings are not something humans seem to have a capacity to understand. There's a reason the first true AI's were either dismantled or worshiped like gods.

I'm not sure what the cybersuit stuff entails, so I can't help ya there. Though, in terms of Medics and engineers, those are easy. Won't cost anything more then a normal sod, which is maybe 5 each.

As per the armory stuff I'm pretty much just eyeballing this in terms of powerlevel, to be honest. So, for most stuff, assume it's gonna be like 1-2 RU while more powerful stuff is between 5-10. Maybe more if it's like a battle suit or something.

Satisfied with the test results, Anton messages Simus.

Quote from: Anton Chernozorov, text message to XO Simus
I've completed the tests on the warheads and the refitted Blackship. The kinamp-fusion warheads will cost much more than conventional nukes (conventional nukes, never thought I'd see the day), roughly a 200% increase in cost, but all things considered, the clean and controlled detonation with no lasting effects will save us much more time and resources on subsequent cleanup. Testing against the lithium shell fusion warheads will have to wait until I've a firm enough grasp of the process to make them into a missile, but I don't think the resulting mechanical difference will be different enough - so we can order the refit of the Courier with the missiles in mind.

The Black Death had shown itself to be capable of dealing with a wide variety of threats, up to and including taking out Avatars of War and small capital ships, with a planet-wide response time of five minutes to half and hour depending on location, and orbital intercept times measured in minutes. Assuming we get that sensor grid operational and can see the threat at least ten minutes in advance, we'll be able to deploy the ship as a trump card against almost any surprise the UWM can throw at us. Whether or not it justifies the costs to refit it... I guess bringing it up on the meeting would be best. My opinion is the same - fire extinguisher. Better to have and never to use.

Also, I might bring another idea to the meeting, if I have time. I've been thinking about things regular troops in the field need sometimes, and I've come up with a very... unconventional answer. I'm not even sure if it'll work myself yet, but it's such a different idea that I want to try it. Don't start that meeting without me.

Tinker up a prototype of the Artee, as well as it is possible to do. Leave anything that would take time to develop (intelligence, programming) and focus on the design of the frame and its inner workings, so it can be shown at the meeting. Then save the design's overview onto the datapad, and go to the meeting in the Conference Room (or Briefing Room, whichever Simus meant). ((Since Simus was supposed to heal by Monday, I am assuming the meeting will be this turn.))

((edit: as requested, detailed summary of the design to estimate costs:

Quote from: Simus>The Doctor
That explains a bit to a mild user of the things. I suppose it might be possible to achieve what I would like with a combination of drugs, but then we go into the realm of, is he really worth all the trouble figuring it out. I'll let you do your job with him, but I would like 1 request with it, if you would:

No cybernetics. He can regrow what he's lost, not take the quick way out.

If she is done repairing, Simus leaves the infirmary without a backward glance and heads to the briefing room.

Quote from: Simus>All
If you are interested in staying on Hephaestus, the meeting begins as soon as everyone who responds to this assembles in the Briefing Room. If you are otherwise occupied, inform me and I'll patch you in, but I prefer physical presence.
Quote from: Simus>Milno, Jim, Miyamoto
I would like you three, if you are not otherwise occupied, to join the meeting as well, in case anyone from your roster wishes to stay.
Quote from: Simus>Jim
Meet me early if you wish to discuss what occurred with Auron.

((Cybersuit Sod is a sod in a standard cybernetic body, just like what a player character would receive if they come back from a mission decapitated and the body missing. A synthflesh commander Sod is a Sod that has the ability to take an abstract order and use noncommander Sods beneath it to execute it (If this is possible, it's something both me and Miyamoto are assuming is, I think), but in a synthflesh cybernetic body, like I currently possess.

Oh, and if Neutron Bomb versions of our usual nuclear warheads would cost any more than usual.))
