*gets out pop corn*

Go on the two of you.
I don't mind you bumping my thread... ;)

Seriously though, the more people see this, the more can use the program to make cool stuff.
And that makes me happy. :)

Looking forward to what you think about it!

Glad you like it, and I hope that you will find it useful!

If so, though guess also if not, any feedback would be much appreciated!

While I have not worked on this for quite a while (except for implementing a small requested feature last fall), I still would like to keep this project alive for as long as people are interested.

In fact, I got a request for some pretty big features recently. Haven't had time to look into it yet, but I am thinking about maybe making some time next to my other projects over the coming weeks.

Even been thinking about re-implementing the program in another much more flexible and powerful programming language, which would make it much easier to support new features in the future, though of course I would have to rewrite all of the code, which would take some time.
Not sure if that is worth it though... have to do some more thinking on that.

In the meantime, enjoy, and let me know if you have any questions or ideas! :)

My brother recently came across the Fate RPG system, and wanted to try a session out with me and my brother. I just suggested using this as a means of helping out with illustrating and planning situations as they unfold. I hope for the best that they work well together, or that it's applied.

In the meantime, I just briefly checked it out, and it's like Paint.NET, except with ASCII. Pretty nifty, and I like the features that reduce the hassle of randomizing, in both colors and characters. Makes maps and large crowds easier to render.

You say 'would be'.
What do you think is still missing before it is? :)

What I meant to say, is that, It's freaking awesome! At first it looked hard, but trying it, I got it real fast! I'm not perfectly good at it, but I'll practice this every day!

A couple of other question, 1: What is the other more flexible language you are considering? And 2: Can you either compile for Ubuntu Linux or make the source code available so I can run it on my Linux machine as well? Wine does not work. Still, awesome so far!

In reverse order:

2: Unfortunately the current language is Windows only. The source would not do you any good. Sorry about that. :(

1: I switched to working almost exclusively in C#, using my own graphics engine/library built on OpenGL, which would be what I had in mind. This should in theory also run fine on Linux, though I never actually tried that. (My things run on a friend's Mac though, so.. that is at least something.)

As I said, I still have to think about this.
I really would love to rewrite it, but I don't have the time for that right now. And probably not for another few months...

It seems he already has another system ready-to-use, but he appreciated the offer. I, however, could put it to some use. It would definitely help when I get back to playing DF. As an alternative, I've been using Paint.NET for plotting things, but this can help moreso since I have a proper ASCII set to work with, instead of pixels.

As an aside, I've poked around my old Bloodfist thread, and noticed it's about to hit the 100k benchmark, and it's motivating me to attempt to continue Bloodaxe (again), and try to get the damn thing built (and kill that minotaur so I can continue it proper). This program can help me plot the furnishings and pre-plan how I want specialized rooms and such to be made (royalty and epic builders and such; plus the original 7).

I'm trying to use this to make a wallpaper, is there any way to make a new image with a set resolution?

E: Also, the type function doesn't seem to register caps lock, you have to manually hold shift to get uppercase things.

E2: I'm getting a fuckton of graphical bugs, too (I think they're caused by maximizing the window). Whenever I try to type an n, all of a sudden, it asks me if i want to save changes before creating a new image :c I restarted and everything works fine.

E3: Once I got the hang of it, it's working fine!

E4:
