If it isn't platinum it is wrong.

That said, I would go with uranium on account uranium is better known.
Nothing like giving your foes cancer. Given the average lifespan of an adventurer, this is probably actually beneficiary.

Just grab the nearest artifact quality platinum war hammer; the radioactive materials are cool and all but without adding syndromes to the material (and these would pretty much have to hurt you too) there will be no cancer.
