RELEASED!

It's very similar to DF in some ways- you plop buildings which people then operate themselves, rather than relying on direct player control of units.

It's focused on survival, so food and resources are closely tracked and you need to store up food and firewood for winter, lest you starve.

DF doesn't mold players into its image - DF merely selects those who were always ready for DF.

Minecraft UI is very simple. There's only so many ways you can implement "simple" without copying something. We also gonna complain that it uses WASD?

Posting to follow... hopefully this will turn out to be some kind of bastard love child of URW and DF. If it does then my life will vanish into hours spent dying in winter.

Watching the Gameplay video colored me interested, but i don't see the survival aspect other than that your villagers is limited to generation growth.

Interested. Reminds me of Anno. Wanting to see the "survival" part of this as well though, because right now it looks like a very nice, medieval village sim.

It sounds a bit less like survival and more just about resource management. Which I guess doesn't preclude survival.....I dunno, the word as it relates to vidya games has different connotations to me. I was expecting to hear more about hostile wildlife and neighbors than resource depletion.

Yeah I would also like combat and enemies, craftable armor, weapons and the like, otherwise it could be boring fast.

The dev has made these comments in his blog.

Quote
As for combat, yes I have a plan. I originally conceived this game without it, but over development I’ve thought of some great ways to incorporate it. It might be an expansion after release, but I definitely want to add it.
Quote

I know exactly what you mean feeling that combat is added as an after thought to some games.

But don’t worry, combat would be within the context of the game mechanics – being attacked would be more of a disaster to control like fire, famine, or disease. It might change city building strategy, but it won’t change the way you play the game.

I occasionally enjoy playing games like the one I’m building without combat. When and if it gets added it will always be an option that can be disabled or enabled as the user wishes.
