I think I found what it was in the latest release, it's a bigger amount of plant types with too small pastures/farm areas on the map. Once I rework it for 0.40.10, it should not be an issue.

Been loving ghosting this thread, but am sorta bummed that 40.10 (40.11 now) hasn't been graced with this awesome mod too.  I still have the "Middle Earth" map, which works very nicely with the new "poles" function (set to north) and embarks changed to having 5000 sub-sections, only about 100 steps of erosion and maybe a dozen volcanoes.  About the only problem I'm consistently having is that the dwarves don't spawn in the Iron Mountains on the east side of the map - DF places races in the Northwest first and even with "Playable civ required" off, I still get an extreme overpopulation of northwestern everybody and hardly anyone anywhere else.

Well, I guess "emigration" has happened a lot by the Third Age, (some thousands of years later).  I usually just add "Morgoth" to the megabeasts list as a slade colossus and gen the world to 583 years in deference to "The First Age of the Sun".  Playing in the Second Age seems more dwarfy, including setting up the various known settlements and civs in preparation for the Great Wars of the Rings.

I haven't got any feedback for this mod lately, and that's usually what keeps me going despite of my RL job and family :). Thanks for bringing it up, if there are other interested people please let me know and it will spark my interest to update and maintain it for sure. The main issue of many mods is that there are silent lurkers who enjoy the content but the modmaker thinks that nobody cares and stops releasing updates.

If you could share your findings regarding the worldgen for 0.40.x, it would help a lot.

I very much would like to play this mod in 40.XX! I admit though I didn't manage to play it before, running into persistant problems with worldgen.

While I have't seen any information on Westron, if I recall, Rohirrin was just Anglo-Saxon, so that could be used for the language of Men.

OMG THANK THE VALAR THIS IS A THING!!! I love Tolkien's work!

Do you plan to rename deities to Valar and replace Angels and Archangles with Maiar, as well as other Silmarillion stuff?

Tolkien and Silmarillion, actually. Sorry, I just had to correct that. :P

Sounds like an amazing mod to bring to DF. Will definitely try it out.

Oh, sorry about that. Not sure what happened with my typing. I'll go ahead and fix that.

Does it have to be stated that large armies would use plate armor though?
Also ptw

The book is early medieval before plate armour was invented BOOM

I don't think they can be put into any time period considering they are...... Wait for it...... FICTION!
And why such a freaking bother with it being "historically" accurate? It's a creaking fantasy book for gods sake
