Two questions
« on: March 25, 2013, 04:16:42 pm »

Hey all,

Just a couple of questions.

1) What's the best non-candy material for edge attacks and blunt attacks?
2) If you channel down outside, then dig out a large pit (i.e, there is no *roof* on it) does this count as being outside? Thinking of digging a refuse pit that is safe for my dorfs to get to all of the time.

Many thanks,

1. the best noncandy edge would be held by steel, the best for blunt is copper.

2. yes, if it has ever been touched by the sun its considered "outside". if you want to make it truly safe, build a floor over it. (bridges can be destroyed, floors cannot (i think)).

Pemmican is pretty incredibly durable. Corn and rice also lust forever without refrigeration.
Ah yes, the insatiable lust of corn and rice, clearly two of the most erotic foods.

Many thanks, although I thought silver was meant to be pretty good?

Also, I saw a Goblin general today. He wasn't carrying any weapons, and had a name like *Hex* something. Could it be a necro? He disappeared partway into the siege, like literally disappeared, hence my suspicion.

Again, thanks!

Silver is a soft but dense metal, which makes it nice for blunt weapons for that extra bling value.

Your general could be a necro, or he could be a wrestler, both of which are Fun, since leaders have high skills (usually).  Which is pretty easy, since necros cause stuff to not stay dead, while wrestlers tend to make things not stay in one piece.

Brilliant responses, many thanks.
Two back-to-back sieges clogged my fine dwarven death machines up nicely.

Steel makes awesome blunt weapons too mind you, it's just cheaper to make them silver and copper.
