The voices told me again that I must set myself on fire. They still didn't say when though!

I'm starting to think that maybe those minecarts were a bad idea.

Ummm, yeah. Dwarves will path through restricted areas if they have ANY reason to go to the other side. So, any unforbidden object, any job at all, will get them to go that way. Even, in rare cases, cleaning up the orc blood inside the trap. 

It's a lot easier to flip the off switches than to micromanage making sure no job ever takes them outside the fort. There's 'N'otes.

(Also, heee heee heee, I love watching things die in cart traps, even my own dwarves.)

Why not just restrict everyone to a burrow inside the fortress proper while the minecarts are active?

Well I was right the master leading a fortress has lead to interesting things.... Mainly that anyone is still alive (granted those now minecart accidents almost made that otherwise. If anyone wondered (which I doubt anyone did) I haven't posted due to a broken computer.
