Finding Lairs

Is there any easy way to find lairs? Finding a single tile down-ramp in a laggy game with trees obscuring my vision and multiple Z-levels to deal with is often frustrating.

This is a dwarf. It is decorated with dwarfiness and menaces with spikes of Brit. Engraved on the dwarf is an image of a dwarf digging a hole. This relates to the digging of a hole by Honeydew the dwarf in 2011.

Copy the save and embark on the entire area in another instance of DF and use fort mode view to find the lair.

The site finder in the top left corner includes a compuss. It'l guide you right to their front door.

When you're exploring, the thing in the top left hand corner tells you where a lair is, (if you're using Phoebus graphics) will be represented as a stone. Then just look for an underground opening or a 1x1 opening and then a trail into the lair.
