I think we broke the game, guys.
No, we've reached the level where we can go through hordes of mooks and punch Cthulhu in the face without straining the suspension of disbelief. We've reached exalted.

This can be our new theme song. Or this.

Well i have been thinking about running places as their hollywood equivalents,
New York would be the old New York, a dysfunctional, crime-plagued, hell hole, full of junkys and dealers, pimps that dive the car from superfly cars.
A Times Square that still plays pornos, a Bronx that is still burning, thugs extorting people on trains covered in graffiti, men fighting each other with nail bats for sport.

You get the idea, placed are done up to their extreme.

I have to say, Funk, you've been giving us an excellent ride so far, the game's been steadily gaining in awesomeness for a while now. I really hope you aren't considering dropping it.

I think that the story, with the current power level, should become less gritty and more epic, like what, again, happened with Metal Gear, I mean, 4 is a semirealistic game with a protagonist who sneaks and uses guns, while revengeance has Raiden pulling off batshit crazy stunts while fighting mecha dinosaurs and flaming death senators.

So we should do that. Instead of fighting random gangs, have us assault a mafia don's private fortress. Let us unravel a massive conspiracy by wizards who have been ruling the world since they unleashed the black death upon Europe. Make us fight that conspiracy's crazed leader on top of an extradimentional portal in the middle of an ocean while Susan clashes with his dark master in a hurricane of gnashing maws and bladed tentacles.

And, of course, let us be an utterly mad tyrant who brings the glorious light of our Mistress to the unbelievers by scouring their minds clear of heresy with blade and wire.

Please, Funk. I think that'll work better.

And do check out that exalted stuff I linked to earlier. It'll help, I promise.

I have no plans of any shape to drop the game, i enjoy writeing it so i'll keep on writeing it.

I'm more thinking of how to make go to japan feel like a change of setting, when we went to france it didn't feel like it was france.

So im thinking yakuza in bright colored suits that run at screaming KI!! as thay swing nunchucks, i'll rewach a few films for ideas and probably boge in ew bits of john woo.

i'll have a look at that exalted stuff, there bound to some good ideas in there.

edit, i m going to have to find a way for you to uncover larger crimes, beating up street thugs will never get you far up the chain.

You can always watch some crazy animes, make Japan like them and blame it on magic conspiracy  :).

Speaking of exalted, Susan sure sounds like a Yozi.

"Ok, we're off now, Claudia you keep an eye out for the others while i'm gone will you."
Leaving You base behind, you step in to the taxi and head to the airport.

"So this is everything you think, you'll need? just a rifle and pistol each and one suit of armour? well heres your passports and tickets, the plane leave in an hour, i'll see you there." states Schmitz as she pass's you a pair of red UK passports.

Looking in side the passport, you are amazed at how good it is, other than the name being one Blanca Cummings, it could be your passport.

You all but breeze thru the check in, your bags are under the limit, you have no liquids, then you hear the words "ok, now just remove all metal items from your pockets, keys, belts buckles, phones and place then in the box next to the metal detectors."

As you await your turn at the metal detector, sure that it is going to let lose a beep and betray your steel body, but boldly you approach it any way.

You step through the metal detectors and nothing happens, for a moment you wounder what happened.
Then you here Susan laughing, it's a warm and friendly laugh, despite your not knowing the joke, you have to stop your self from joining her.

The fight is dull, the food bad, the seats to small and a horde of screaming children keep you wake all night, but in the end you reach Narita airport.

As you drag your luggage out to the exit, Schmitz appears, looking like she had a much better flight.

"Right i have good news, the Umi no joō is in  bad weather so it's going to be later than planed.
Here take these phones, I'll call you later, for now your too just lie low, find some where to sleep, go see the sights, what ever it is you want to do."

She pases you a pair of cheap phones, your back bag and a brick of cash (¥172000 gained)

Well now your in japan what do you do?

How do you go about getting Schmitz mother back?

Well if we have to wait to get started I say we pay a visit to some Yakuza.  Yes, that sounds fun.
As for saving her mother, we would need to find where she's being held and then do our regular shock and awe thing.  But a more 'refined' plan will have to wait until we know more about where she is.

No, no, no, let's investigate first. Ask our informant to tell us everything she knows about the people who kidnapped her mother, and then go around asking people.

Go into the nearest Yakuza office and murder them all for sport.

"Jackie Hall i should warn you now, before it courses trouble, the rules are different here,
still it shouldn't effect ether of you to much.
but just be aware that not all is as it seems."

Susan warning echoes as you head out from your cheap hotel room.

You make your way across tokyo, getting lost repeatedly, but finally you enter the red light district of Kabukicho, looking for the Yakuza.

Your limited knowledge of Japaneses, odd dress and being the only two foreigners around this part of town, you stand out.

So it is little wounder that you don't much in the way of crime, indeed with out informants to "question" you only manage to find:
An illegal gambling club, above a small bar.
A gang of bicycle thieves operating out of the local high school.
A "Legitimate" chivalrous organization, run by some large men with tattoos and missing fingers.
None of them fill you with any sense of urgency.

You return back to your bed after along night of drinks and karaoke with a company of four extremely drunk salary men.

The good news is Schmitz has some more details about the Umi no joō.
Sat around the table of a cramped noodle bar
"Ok heres what i know, the Umi no joō, 2000 gross tons, 70 meters long by 12 across, the highest point is the bridge at 12 above sea level.
In short it's small ship with a fairy open deck and a small cargo hold for supplys.

Crew is 9 men, the guards detail is probably no more than 12 at the most.
Now the guards have small arms and will probably try to lock down the ship or some kind of safe room, and then call for the coast guard or navy to come and fight us.

So we have 3 basic options
A)Attack out at see
The least expected and it isolates the guards from back up, but it leaves us without a good escape route.

B)Attack close to shore
Easy for us to get in and out, but reinforcements are likely, still being close to the city will keep them from calling out the big guns.

C)Wait until they move my mother then attack.
Risky any convoy will be armed, still it save us mucking about with boats.
