The Halflings win the toss and elect to defer to the second half, lining up in a lopsided formation with Deeproot holding down one flank and a host of halflings on the other.
The lopsided formation is quickly abandoned, however, as a Perfect Defense lets the halflings position in an open spot on the right side of the field, and the ball bounces into the TZs of two halflings. The orcs scramble, pushing one halfling off the ball and managing to scoop up the ball with a blitzer. The halflings have smelled the ball, however, and go into a frenzy attempting to recover it; Deeproot smashes his way next to the ballcarrier, and the halfling coach plays the +ST card, successfully knocking down the ballcarrier. Unfortunately, the ball bounces out of bounds, and the throw-in puts it on the other side of the field. The orcs use their speed and power to recover the ball and seal off that half of the field, easily swatting aside the few halflings who try to get in the way. Dexter the AG4 fling is Badly Hurt, and Cass is killed outright. In fact, by the end of the drive only 3 trees and a pair of stunned halflings are on the field. Adamant Axes lead, 1-0
The halflings line up with 9 players, carefully bringing the ball to the trees in the waning moments of the half. The orcs drop back into a prevent defense, but Samuel Haight sails through the air with the ball and lands on his feet far enough south to get around the screen. 2 GFIs later, and the halftime score is 1-1
The Munchkins field 10 players for the second half, receiving the ball with a card yet to play. This time, the orcs get a Perfect Defense, shifting away from Deeproot. In turn, the halflings blitz with Deeproot, and follow with a loose cage. The halflings make a dent in the Orc line, but they falter when Old Man Henderson the Treeman (who was holding down the other side of the field) KOs himself on a Both Down, freeing up two orcs and a Troll to come back to the ball. Gros Bil tries to spread the field and threaten a score, but he's quickly knocked out of the game. The orcs smash halflings and bring down a treeman, and the Munchkin's last hurrah collapses when Deeproot begins the 6th turn of the half by throwing double skulls. The ballcarrier is leveled, the throw-in lands at midfield where a waiting Thrower scoops up the ball, and a desperate footrace to the endzone is concluded when God Mode Sue is blitzed off the ballcarrier, who goes in on the last turn for the winning TD.

Final Thoughts:
As usual, I was overaggressive when the kickoff event went my way; I should've backed off my halflings to stall while my trees smashed in from the side. Heck, Deeproot was already there! I got greedy, and that ended with the ball popping back to midfield where I couldn't cover it. The second half I could have done a bit better at caging (left an avenue for that guard blitzer to get in and make a mess of things,) and really should have gone for the TTM hail mary the turn before Deeproot took himself down, rather than trying to clear more TZs away. I take nothing away from smakemupagus though, he played a tight game, hit his targets of opportunity, saved his rerolls for the right time and took the risks he had to to win. I should've lost 2-0, but that TTM made the score respectable
