Well, just know that I'm updating nothing until I update this. And thanks for the offer!

By the way, as of 5:15 PM last night, I'm an honorary uncle to a cute little girl who is my Lover Girl's cousin's second daughter. I may actually be going to see the whole family in a while. :D

Indeed, congratulations!

Also damn, that scene sounds awesome, I understand wanting to give it the effort it deserves. Best of luck dealing with the writer's block, I've found everyone needs to deal with it their own way.

It might help your writer's block to write about something else.

If you're still having trouble, why not write it through the viewpoint of one of the characters? One of the archers, an initiate priest, a party member, etc. That might be interesting.

Or you can just throw the bare numbers at one of us and let them flesh it out.

I may do that for everything but the whole HOLY WORD part. Everyone has a different reaction.

On the one hand, Tarana gets this warm comforting feeling. On the other, Morgred feels something that may resemble pain and also notices "Oh shit, my bones are about to fall off." It's kind of hard to write how someone else feels from the perspective of someone who doesn't care. xD

Anyway, I am working at it.

Maybe write it from the POV of one of my ghouls?

Also, question for Alpha Party of the hypothetical nature: Should you succeed at the combat, the assassination, and sucessfully return to the Duke, how many of you would be interested in forming the officer corps of a newly-created mercenary company employed to invade the ever-living fuck out of the Barony?

Not that I'm saying this is guaranteed to happen, I'm just putting feelers out so I can logistics should the opportunity arise.

General hypothetical:

Myrln would be declared Captain simply because he has filled the "leadership" sort of role, while Zoah would get appointed Lieutenant because he's a trained soldier with years of experience. (Think of it as "Myrln reigns; Zoah rules", "Myrln is in command, Zoah is in control", or just plain old "Myrlyn has the most rank, Zoah has the most authority.") Aside from Myrln, Neun and Morgred would basically be the company mages (think, sideways in rank, about #3), while Tarana would be something between "quartermaster", "record-keeper", and "ambassador."  (Number 3 on the books sort of thing.)

There'd be, oh... I don't know, say, 4000 infantry, 1000 cavalry, 300 in the mage corps, and another 200 in the engineering. With a whole host of "camp followers" or "auxiliaries", depending on how you choose to see it.. Make it a total of 9500 people or so, total. Most of them would be raw recruits, but there'd be a reasonable core of veterans to form the noncoms and the like.

Standard "this is not guaranteed to happen, it's just in the idea stage so far" disclaimer applies, of course. And y'all would work in the same general (dys)functional manner, there'd just be NPC's saluting you and taking orders.)

Haha, oh man you guys in charge of an army. I don't know if the world should be expecting a tragedy, a comedy, or a tragicomedy. I got my money on the last one, comedic for those on one side, horrifyingly tragic for the other.
