Quick question on weaponizing cave-ins?
« on: June 05, 2013, 04:25:17 pm »

So in my latest fort I plan on lining the entrance with emergency cave-in landmines--a support with a ring of flooring built atop it to drop on invaders-- and I was wondering if, for example, I were to build statues on top of the flooring and let them fall with the cave-in, would the statues also fall and deal damage to invaders? Would the statues be destroyed? Would it be better to store loose junk like socks on the landmines instead?

It'd be cool if I could add an extra element of smashing stuff to a pulp by weaponizing dwarfy statues of my fort's ancestors and heroes, but I never tried cave-ins before and figured a question here about cave-in physics wouldn't hurt.

the statues wont have anything above crushing them, so they should fall and deal damage.  Although the way that caveins blow stuff back, I doubt they'll hit anything.

While adding magma to anything will make it dwarfy, adding the word "magma" to your post does not necessarily make it funny.

I'd make a slab for the queen and use her in the trap instead.

I think constructed floor falling on some dude is a guaranteed insta-kill, a statue on top of that can't make it any more effective.

A booze stack under the cave in with magma flowing over the trap. When the cavein hits, the booze goes BOOM!

Booze never goes boom. It just evaporates.

I thought constructed floors just turned to rubble instead so they just did damage that way, and only natural rock kept its shape and crushed things under it for the insta-kill?
