Well, I can confirm that online play is compatible across regions. It looks like language is preserved too, because visiting an NA version town with a Japanese game has all the signs show up in English. Crazy.

This is cool because I understand there's actually region-specific items (like, very Korean items you can only get in a Korean copy, etc.), which it should be possible to trade between games. You might also be able to visit during region-specific holidays and stuff, like that Japanese holiday that involves throwing beans at people.

Shame I'll probably be stuck with American holidays, such as Wrong Thanksgiving (I'm Canadian).

What happens if you start new characters in your town? Are they the mayor too? It'd be strange to have four mayors.

Only the first character is. The other characters will just be citizens.

I kind of wanted to start everything over, but I couldn't find where to actually delete my data and remake my character...

And then I'd have to wait an entire day to even do anything mayor-like if I did so as well...

I remember on DS at least there was a standardized button combo you could hold while starting any game in order to completely wipe all saved data on it. I imagine there's one on 3DS too. You'd be losing your town too, though. (and if it's downloaded as opposed to cartridge, I have no idea if that would work differently)

I like this. Suck it, whoever else makes a character in my town.

Just remembered this while reading the thread... it's a plot-driven narrative pseudo-LP of Animal Crossing that makes for an entertaining read: http://lparchive.org/Animal-Crossing/

Did anyone else get really excited when they found out that you can wear skirts regardless of gender?

I don't care if it's pink and has flowers and lace. IT'S A KILT.

Hilariously, am running a female character and my first clothes buy was a named Kilt.

Also the in game chat feature is awesome.

I'm well on my way to setting up night mode and getting island access.

How many more days till Sabel brings in the QR code machine? I've been talking to her every day since the game came out.
