Animal:  Honey Dragon
Appearance:  A honey dragon is a mythical cross between a honey badger and a dragon. We have more badger like qualities minus the fact that our fur is sometimes patches of scales instead. We can also breath puffs of fire, they have limited use for combat but lighting a candle or something is easy.
Oh yes.

We are about one and a quarter meters high,
What kinda of cats do they have around your town?

-----

Animal: Octopus
Appearance: A cephalopod with eight arms and a highly malleable body, and the ability to change its color at will. Body about the size of a man's fist.

First of all this has garnered quite a lot more attention than I would have initially thought - my thanks for participating. ;3

Time to count the votes; 1x Honey Badger 1x Cat, 1x Gargoyle, 1x Octopus, 2x Spider, 5x Honey Dragon, 7x Dragon
We have a clear "Dragon" Majority and that's what we thus obviously end up with.

Also, the view of the tower is top-down, the bookcase with runes and familiar a sideway view. The Dragon is - as was wished - european-type, quadrupled with seperate wings. The rest ist artistic fail freedom.

Wooh. There goes another statue you guess - if the disturbance of mana is any basis to suspect so, that sorceres let loose something nasty. Sheesh, she seems to have a lot of mana to spare. Right, and it seems like the spell faded for good, no surprises there.

Well yeah, but sure enough. Your Master "did" tell you that he had his share of problems to get his hands onto you - but it's not like you dislike your heritage, nor do you dislike having a will of your own. While you would love to stretch your wings you better play "stuffed" animal for a while longer, because you don't wanna end up like these statues on the floor. Would make all your betrayal for naught - well, nebst killing your master that is.

He is an awkward one, for sure. Not only did he dabble in demonology to create you, he also enchanted all those statues. Also went as far to give you an affinity for his true calling, enabling you to cast some of the lower spells of it. As a result of all his experimantations however, your way of regenerating mana is somewhat uncommon. If it also causes you to remain eternally ... "young" - as he proclaimed - will be seen in the next few decades. A welp can still hope, right?

You gain mana by:

Raw Spells: Loosening the fabric of a spell or enchantment, you are able to devour the mana that is held within. Obviously that does not work very fast, nor do you have any experience with high-level spells. While maybe possible in theory, any notion of "eating" a spell that is thrown at you, is utterly ridicioulus.

Emotions: You have the ability to gain mana through the emotions of others - the stronger those emotions are, the more mana is gained - obviously. The feelings do not abide in any way, and if you are the cause of them you gain way more than by being a stand-by only. There seems to be no catch involved, as far as Master could tell.

Sustenance: Everything in the world is filled with mana, but these values vary to the extremes. Normally one might gain a bit of mana from the things one would eat, but your body is extremely proficient in that matter - You would be better of eating the herbs than the mana potion that was derived from them, to put it into context.

You obviously still need some normal food to function properly, but that is very limited and can be supplied with your mana for a significant period of time. But to avoid mana-consumption you really should fill your stomach on occasion, some fresh meat is normaly your favorite. And honey - you absolutely love honey
.

Your Master was - or is he still? - a gifted;

Alchemage, transmuting all kinds of matter and potions.
Conjurer, being able to shape raw mana into physical existence.
Demonologe, breaching the planes to reach out for unworldly powers and beings.
Druid, bending plants and the energies of life.
Elementalist, calling forth the elements and sometimes even servants.
Enchanter, ingraining new abilities or properties into anything solid.
Illusionist, altering the perception of the world around him to his will.
Necromancer, dealing with unlife the energies of death.
Warlock, wielding dark energies and curses.

I tried to make sure that the familiar has quite a lot of options available. Do take note that especially the way we gather mana will bring in many decisions that can go all ways of the "alignement spectrum". We could devour a curse or a healing enchantment, provoke fear or admiration, sate our hunger on mystic plants or the flesh of magical adept beings.

But for now, choose your picks - obviously one way of gathering mana, and one school of magic.

The artwork relates to the encasing of the HMRC in metal by Pancaek during the Mission of Many People.))

Sustenance
Enchanter

We are a solid, tangible object.  We can modify ourself.  With practice, we could become a full-sized dragon even with our stunted growth, or modify our digestive tract to process anything we can get our jaws around.  Power available as long as we're not in hard vacuum.

Raw spells
Warlock

Raw spells has a lot of potential for later on, if we can get the trick of catching incoming spells, and offers fewer, more intense meals, so we could spend less time eating. Sustenance Could find us eating almost constantly for a week prior to an expensive episode. Emotion would pretty much demand that we be reliant upon some form of cult, and could force us to expose ourselves a lot early on.

Warlock sounds like fun. Dark energies should be good for concealment and indirect attacks to keep our relatively frail form out of the fire and curses should provide a lot of effect compared to expenditure, and we should be able to eat them, one way or another, no matter how we acquire magic... All of which should provide more options to play with than a simple blaster...
