This intrigues me. I do hope to be still alive when this is finished I'm sure it will be quite nice. c:

Spoiler: huge image (click to show/hide)

So I've been working on tweaking world gen a bit in preparation for revamping the economy system. The new world gen looks a lot better -- the occasional continent with large oceans, compared to the very clustered feeling of the old maps.

But the most important part is that I, too, have put makeshift biomes into my game! I hope that they will help in deciding which cities generate which items.

I roughly used this image:

to decide biomes. Most of the nuances are gone, though. You can easily see the straight lines where I chose to divide the biome conditions :P The only non-orthogonal division is the Savanna/Tropical Forest one. Like I said, makeshift. I might change it later.

Something I don't like is that Mediterranean biomes are very rare, usually only 1 tile wide, and surround deserts. Hmnm.

take a look at the mediterranean biome we have on earth

now take a look at the islands in chartered waters

sorry if you miss it but the difference is hella clear for me

one-tile and surrounding deserts is actually an example i heard for namibia(?) which has some pretty robust foliage right next to the ocean and a fuckton of desert behind it

so you're managing something realist

The Mediterranean isn't the only place one Earth with a mediterranean biome though :P
