Yeah, I've been working on stitching together a general map of the entire island using Isoworld's "Refined_large" setting and carefully matching the screen captures.  When I'm done, I'll be posting a link to the massive pic (It's something like 8k pixels by 6k pixels - a real beast, even in .png) and posting a smaller version here in the group, so people have some idea of whats around.  I have Stonesense maps of each player site that will be posted when he visits them as well, just in case the person controlling Twoflower doesn't post pics of it themselves.  Many of the player sites really are quite nice.

I'm here because Timeless Bob said he'd be doing something like Tonguebanners?

Same as before when we kick off:

Have a deep underground work area. Make a metric fuckton of swords. Sell swords to everyone else. Use gold bars to make coins. Hoard the coins. Have a dragon protect the coins, smaug style. Buy a few gems every now and then to make it appear nicer

OK, so I'll post that map tonight and you guys start suggesting embarks and what you want your dorf to have on the embark.

OK, the entire embark-able world has finally been completely stitched together from screenshots, all fortresses saved have been added and can be seen in miniature.  What has not yet been added is the areas already explored by Twoflower and his companions, nor any of the embarks for the "Tonguebanners" game (because none have been suggested as of 30OCT13).

Look at the first post to see the small and large images of "The Misty Isle", which is the name of this entire island.

I vote for embarking in an area that maximizes the options available to the dwarves, meaning something like a dense forest biome with metal, a flux/ore combo local, or a volcano. This is to maximize possible professions.

Depending on what you guys want, I have a few options to choose from:

A bit more detail about each possible embark:
1) The Northern Peninsula:

It's flat and a bit chilly here (The island gets chillier to the north).  Also, roving bands of goblins pretty much own the entire area and there might be a few towers nearby too.  (As previous players have pointed out, however, not all towers contain necromancers).  The aquifer is often present here, necessitating aquifer breaching strategies.

2) The Lonely Mountain

This place practically begs for a "King under the Mountain", a huge horde of coins, armor, weapons and other pretty trinkets, all gaurded a dragon named "Smaug".  The spring to the south could be excavated into a "Long Lake" with a little town on its shores human-style.  Instead of Hobbits, we have gnomes, so it all fits.

3) The Forbidden City

No-one who has tried to explore this mysterious place in the exact center of the Isle has ever come back to tell the tale...

4) Clifftown

A town more vertical than horizontal if the rumors can be believed.  It is said that the stone upon which the town is built is filled with precious ores and gems, but also that the inhabitants are less than friendly neighbors...

5) The Seacliffs

Seawater pounds upon the very bones of the Isle, carving fantastical shapes in the spray.

6) The Island of Eeeeeeeevil

An Islet volcano leaning off the edge of the World, infested with the unliving and Titans alike.

@4maskwolf: Yes, Masterwork v3.
However, since I'll be doing the nitty gritty of actually running the game, you'll only need to PM me what you want to do, and I'll try to make that happen (you may be blocked by the plans of other Players, but I'll do my best to keep your dwarf from making any fatal mistakes unless you specifically ask me to do so.)

Highmax: Are you voting for the "Lonely mountain"?  Put it in the poll.

Once a maximum of 20 seasons have gone past, the game will end anyway, but nothing says we can't re-embark at another site then for another 1on1 game at a different embark site.

K, I wanted to know for dwarf planning.  Thanks.  Masterwork certainly opens up more options.
