Advice! Make sure you place artifacts that can burn into a fire-safe area and FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS GOOD AND HOLY

But that's what all those wooden earring are good for!

CoiledBurials is off to a roaring good start!

Seriously though, are ghouls supposed to instantly die on embark?

EDIT: Not even 5 seconds later.

EDIT2: All the warlocks died or went crazy, so I abandoned, can't have a Tower with just skeletons, afterall.

As impressive as the dwarves are at parking wagons in odd places, I don't recall ever hearing about someone embarking to the inside of a cave. There's literally no way to squeeze the wagon through either of the passages, it's just there.

They're Warlocks. They have magic. Very frivolously used magic, in this case.

If I were a dwarf, that's the artifact I would make. You could scream "FOR WRITING AND GLORY" while bisecting goblins with a single swing. Hell yeah.

The first succubus caravan went up in flames for no apparent reason. 3 dead succubi and 4 dead lesser basilisks died who were with the caravan.

Still looking at the cause of this, there must be some fiery extract that is not forbidden to trade yet. If possible, may I have the save?

The Human Castle of GhostlyTaught has fallen, brought down from within by rioters and greed.

It all started with a migration wave, for whatever reason, everyone who immigrates to GhostlyTaught shows up thirsty, and unfortunately our stores are never enough to keep up with the wave due to issues with farming and the lack of a well. Natuarlly, not having enough to drink pissed some people off, so they started fistfights. Did I mention there's no well? GT has no water to speak of, save for (maybe) in the caverns, getting sent to the hospital for anything that can't be fixed in a week or two is a death sentence. The fistfights killed a lot of people.

Then, angry that they had lost so many relatives to the outsiders, some of the citizens went berserk. They were quickly mobbed by the frostwere bears I have roaming everywhere, but the fact of the matter was that if I didn't get water soon it would just happen again and kill even more people. I looked around for a Tear of Armok to build the fountain, but the mining proccess was laggy as hell.

So I cracked open the caverns instead, 6-8 FBs killed everyone on their way out. The Unit screen only listed 2 of them, one made of salt the other half-dead from a run-in with trogs. Now the caverns are on fire, I'm down to a quarter of the population I started with, I still don't have any water, and one or more of the FBs apparently has a nasty syndrome because the eternally content Duke is waiting for death in surgery with a rotting everything. (Though he's still upset that the fortress hasn't been making enough chopping axes or large gems.)

Here's how **I** deal with thirsty migrants:

Drowning trap.

Gets rid of migrants AND gives them a drink. Although atomsmashing them works too, if you want to chance creating a nuclear explosion.

"Drowning trap" implying that there was water to drown them with.

Also, I was playing the kindly Nidhe worshiper, so blatant tyranny was a no-go. (Nidhe is the goddess of the Sun, forests, nature and rain, shaped like a cave spider. She's kind of awesome.)

You COULD, technically, use booze. But that's a bit of a waste. On the other hand, its also flammable. Migrant flambe is best migrant.
