Probably the 3rd cavern plant, "Firewood"
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
20000 urists is about 9968 F or, perhaps not a coincidence, very close to the surface temperature of the sun ^^

Edit:  Nevermind... this wood is probably only used in bonfires and not supposed to actually exist ( [FREQUENCY:0] ).  There was a time when there were firestarting trees in the deep caverns but maybe removed, if they still exist, I'm not sure what they are.

Well with the way Simple Woods works of course the fake plant's Frequency alone doesn't mean that there aren't some other trees that use [TREE:PLANT_MAT:FIREWOOD:WOOD]

on the other hand,
Searching for: TREE:PLANT_MAT:FIREWOOD
Found 0 occurrence(s) in 226 file(s)

fair enough  8)

so, i've got nothing then :)

Flaming raccoons!

Different fort than mystery fires above, this one had an arcane dwarf pop up and incinerate my trade depot and guard animals just as the merchants were unloading.  Since my trade depot is across a short foot bridge that goes next to a waterfall, and since the merchants dropped a fire turret that I cannot seem to do anything with, but is now conveniently "guarding" my entrance hall, I now occasionally get flaming raccoons dropping off the bridge near my fishing hole at the base of the waterfall :-)

Hrm, there is now, apparently, "a pool of grease" which is smoking ... and has been smoking for months.  Maybe I can built a windmill in here and attach it to a steam engine to make a fan to blow away the smoke and miasma ...

I can't tell if my new legendary armorsmith is really good, really bad, or just really lazy.

Update: Not even a year after this "masterful craftsorcship" was created, the fortress is surrounded by the reanimated remains of 3 different armies as well as that of a few giant insects.

A balrog attacked.  The War Giant Black Leurcros did a fine job of distracting him (with several losses), giving my militia time to attack.  After the balrog is slain I notice one of the soldiers is bleeding heavily.  I look more closely, his !!groin!! was melted and is gushing blood (only dwarven injury).  He goes right back to training, and a few weeks later I check in on him.  His groin is now missing all its fat, but he is fine (one bad thought for receiving MINOR injuries recently).  My dwarves scare me...

black plague, no medicine, fortress over?  might try to ride it out, just to see what happens.
yep, fortress over!  meh.

...

Before its anticlimactic end, i noticed for the first time in this fort that marksorcs who ZTIQ in a barracks that has chests built will stockpile some of their squad-claimed ammo in them.  Kind of interesting.

My current human fort has just become the residence of a friendly forest giant "deity" who also happens to be a were-tortoise. I don't even have a wall up yet, this is gonna suck.

Update: His first "friendly" act as the town's new deity is to tear down all the doors so people can enter and exit more freely.

Update2: Now he's beating people up, still listed as "friendly" though.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Conclusion: I mobbed him with all 21 of my arctic settlers, he didn't last very long and I don't believe anyone got bitten by his were-form.

Has the monarch moved in yet?

If no then....

Keep trying.

You can fake being able to run on water. You can't fake looking cool when you break your foot on a door and hit your head on the floor.

Advice! Make sure you place artifacts that can burn into a fire-safe area and FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS GOOD AND HOLY
