The Pit of Magic: A Perplexicon Game. [Oh well.]
« on: July 12, 2013, 03:16:02 pm »

Lovingly ripped from Piecewise's Perplexicon!

You suddenly find yourself in a large, round room with seven others.  Each of you is wearing ragged clothing and holding a book of magic.  The book is filled with magical words, but there's no hint of what they do.  Will you master the Pit Tome and slay those that would kill you for your power, or will you just be fodder for someone else's greatness?

Welcome to the Pit of Magic, a deathmatch with modular magic!  As said, it's heavily ripped inspired by Perplexicon, and many of the concepts remain.

Rules:
Deathmatch with modular magic.  You can cast spells with any number of words up to your pool total.  Word order, what you are doing with your hands, which way you are facing or looking, and what you are thinking may matter.  Pool is refilled at the end of each turn, or by one point a turn if you are in combat.  Health is chunky salsa- no hit points here.

You may PM me your exact action if you wish to hide your secrets from others, but please post something here.  I reserve the right to not wait for everyone to process a turn, but I will wait for those in combat.

The book may change from time to time.  Such changes won't be announced, except in very unusual circumstances.

You were planning to have a 15 year old magical girl kill Witches by drinking them under the table!? It's original, at least.

Keep in mind the bloody nature of the game means that RP is entirely optional.

Also, I'm almost done.

And that's 8.  Those that are reserves, I'm throwing you in the pit as placeholders because I need to start now.

The book is now in the OP.  If you have questions, ask away.

The eight of you appear in a pit.  Each of you is holding a stained, bloody, and battered book, filled with words of incredible magical power, but with no clue what each word does.

You are all in a large round room, with a fifty-foot high domed ceiling.  About fifteen feet up is an eight-foot ledge that goes all the way around- no railing.  The diameter of room is one hundred feet or so.  On the north and east are stairs up to the ledge in the wall.  On the southeast corner is a ladder up.  To the south is a narrow passage to another room.  On the west is a wide passage to another room that looks wide open.  The floor in this room is dirt, but the footing is solid.  Patches of weeds are in a couple places.

In the center of the room, lying in the floor, is a battleaxe.  Its handle is steel and the head is shining obsidian- it looks quite deadly.

Each of you is standing about 15 feet from the wall, in a circle.  Player 1 is north, player 2 is northeast, Player 3 is east, and so on to Player 8 who is northwest.

Go!

Derek blinks for a moment before scampering towards the narrow passage.  He has no idea what's going on but he already doesn't like the fact that he's in a hole with random odd-looking strangers.

Offer an alliance to any players willing to accept, and grab the battleaxe. Speak the words "Tepsy Necti" at any who try to take the battleaxe, assuming they aren't one of my allies.
