First, both Athens and Sparta were Greek nations.

Secondly, the Greek Fire was used by Byzantines (well technically greek culture) and not by ancient Greeks...

My favourite weapon is the bec de corbin. Armour doesn't stand a chance. Polearms in general are all very awesome.

So? If you're fighting a guy in plate mail, you're not going to be able to lop things off with an axe, but you can always smash someone's skull in with a hammer.

History would be more interesting if this was an accepted set of tactics. Unfortunately, most humans do not have the Beard Power to kill people by kicking them in the face.

With a heavy enough materialm (iron?) you can have an axe, spear, and warhammer (the flat back) in one weapon.
I still prefer dual-wield hatchets however.

You could also attach whole thing into whip and make it act like nunchuk.
