Worldgen without temperature gradient?
« on: August 03, 2013, 08:44:08 am »

Is it possible to have an entirely warm/cold world without the gradient from north to south pole? have been playing around with parameters but couldn't find a way yet...

You can set min and max temperatures in advanced world gen. If you set them to the same number, presumably you would get a world with the same temperature throughout.

that's what you would think. but i played around with min/max temperature and mesh sizes and still had freezing biomes on one side and scorching ones on the other side. so either it does not work as intended or I am doing something wrong.

Odd. I'd say not working as intended, because no way should that happen.

What happens if you set the temperature min/max to something insane, like 200-300?

IIRC the world will not generate since the sentient civs will be unable to grow crops.
Or was it some other attribute combo, I can't remember.

don't forget to set the max gradient values to an absurdly low number

Actually that doesn't work either. It's one of the things I struggled with while making PerfectWorldDF, is that anything you paint in there will be overwritten by the gradient. I eventually gave up on the temperature map.
