No.

That's a roc lair.

A multigenerational roc lair.

It contains 35 nests.

For a total of 73 rocs.

Plus 1-3 unhatched eggs per nest.

I haven't unpaused yet. I think I'm going to die.

If you can escape, or if you reclaim, get cages and mechanisms to build lots of cage traps.  Use lots of cage traps to cage all the Rocs.  Tame them as your own private army or War Rocs.

Rocs who live there will be immune to traps. You try to use a cave-in to knock them out on top of a cage trap, though.

Or you can checkerboard a wooden trainingspear/cagetrap hallway and have them dodge into cages.

I figure I'll start by corralling them in a safe place - probably with a hatch cover-from-below bait-and-switch - and later use either a webber or a cave-in to get them into cage traps.

At the moment I mostly need them to not be a threat to incoming caravans. It turns out that none of the shallow nor deep metals at this site were iron. Normally this would be enough for me to abandon and try again... but there are 73 rocs here.

By the way, it turns out that the lair pictured there is only one of two roc lairs on my embark. The other is much smaller - a single roc with a single nest. So the pictured lair only has 34 nests and 72 rocs. Sorry for the misinformation.

'Only' 72, geesh :D

Good luck in your quest to rook some rocs!

Oh dear.

Migrants spawned right next to the lair.

Note that dwarven civilization died out in this world 300 years ago...

So yeah, there's one of the two migrant waves I'm going to get, ever, down the drain.
