Alec scratched his chin, and seemed to remember something else.
: "Hey Lil' Miss, you were from the Masallan plains, right? Have you ever been in the big cities like here?"

Grifen shook her head.

: "Up until about seven months ago, just once when I was thirteen. Pa and a few of the others came here fer some big trade exchange, and pa let me come along. He didn't want me leavin' his side, and lemme tell ya I didn't have any intention of doin' so! Moss was such a big and crowded place that I got a bit dizzy."

The nomad was silent for a moment, remembering. It had been a very good trip; they had returned to the homestead with lots of valuable supplies, and Grifen had carried home a small bag of candy all for herself. She brought herself back to the present.

: "Whatcha askin' for? Have you ever visited the plains?"

Alec grinned.
: "Just a curiosity, I actually grew up in a city a ways south of here, Wynar. I would accompany my parents to those kinds of trade meets over here in Moss twice every year. We regularly had a couple stopovers to some of the villages along the way, but I don't think I've ever been into the heart of the land." He laughed to himself, "It's like night and day, the difference between the two places."

Grifen gasped and shook Alec's hand.

: "Y'ain't ever told me you were Masallan! Heck, if what ya say is true we coulda been at the same meet and never knew it."

: "Don't think I've ever been to Wynar though. I hear it's a pretty nice place, but if we had to come all the way out here fer trading we just went straight to Moss and came back."

AN HOUR LATER WHICH MIGHT BE REWINDED IF YOU REQUIRE PASTTIME TRAVEL:

"You're all ready! Good, follow me, and please be quiet." And under the overcast sky and reddiness of late afternoon hours, they left the city of Moss.

~~Chapter 7: Unexpected Encounters of the Worst Kind~~

But as they walked forth through the hilly countryside for next two hours, the skies darkened; not just because it was getting late, but because the thick stormclouds began to gather and cover the skies. On top of that...

...it began to rain.

"See? The castle is up there. We just have to climb the hill."

"The weather is pleasant." Ram spoke quietly as it began to pour down even harder. Renault was silently walking in line with Sheila and Iva, and on the far side from Leo. Ram was hanging out in the back.

Alec lifted his hand to test the downpour before speaking to Iva. A castle? Alec searched his memory for whom it belonged to...
: "Sorry if I'm being intrusive, miss. Can I ask who exactly we're being taken to?"

Grifen fidgeted in her saddle, getting nervous as the sky darkened. Hopefully they would camp soon.

: "So uh. Y'all want me to scout ahead?"

[Haspen]

"My husband forbade me to speak due to concerns of Masallan safety, sorry. That's why we're traveling so late at day. No one should know we're going there." She looked at the castle far away, which windows were dark and not a single light was coming from the inside - as if the castle was abandoned.

: "I'll dance for you if you scout ahead, Greenielocks."

Leo nudged Sheila and whispered.

"_{Do you get the feeling this is a trap, and that Ram is part of it? Because I've been thinking about it and his joining just before we get taken to what looks like an abandoned fortress suddenly seems VERY suspicious.}"

He didn't mind the rain so much, although he quite certain that Sancho was thoroughly unhappy with the sudden downpour.
