What anti-virus are you using? System restore is like a really almost-last-resort type tool, and malware just LOVES to corrupt restore points, so it's not always viable. Glad you were able to get it working, though.

A reasonably safe way to download music is to just find a music video of it on youtube and use a video to mp3 website to get the song from the url. Of course, you should only do this to songs which it is legal to freely download.

You can also find torrents of music some places; I think OCRemix distribute via torrent, and there are other less reputable (but still very reliable) sources too (yo ho, yar har)

Its not as much as corrupt as its more of oops its all deleted.
