Looking for advice

So i have had this idea in my head where i write up a short story for the my/Internets enjoyment. Problem is i don't know how to write stories and i was wondering are their any vets with experience in this could trow a few pointers it'd help a bunch.

Do you read stories? Read some and learn their structure. Here is a very basic story structure, for example:

One time, there was an ugly barnacle. He was so ugly that everyone died. The end.

That's a classic. You can learn a lot from it.

(But seriously; paying attention to what you read is a good way to learn about writing. You might want to check out these articles. They go over a lot of the basics of storytelling, and do it pretty well.)
