How do I make wooden blocks? There's nothing in the crafting menu and logs alone arent quite the best building material.
I might be missing something here but I really wanna make a wooden cabin somewhere.

you place a wood frame made with wood plank:

http://7daystodie.gamepedia.com/Wood_Frame

then you right click on it with the axe in hand and with some plank in the inventory and it build planks on top of the frame

the more you build the more reinforced it gets up until a point, then it will start using metal stuff.

you can also use the same system to reinforce windows with planks

edit: set up a server at 167.88.37.248 pm me for password/whitelist.

should have friendly fire disabled, but I configured one for the first time so I might have screwed up a little.

uses random world generation

It's still an alpha, but I've had more fun with this game than other complete ones, and there still seems to be a whole lot more features to come, added at a dizzying rate. It's a survival horror game, Minecraftish, but get this: actually fun. There just seem to be a very good combination of things.

It's games like this that I'm really excited about, but more excited for when a hardcore mod comes out. As most of the gamer reviews I've read on this state, after you get on your feet with it (which you can normally do by cheesing the AI), it pretty much turns into base building + slight annoyance of zombies every now and again.

Any changes to this yet? Has it got the proper survival horror thing down yet?

With enough work and polish, it could have been a forgettable flash game on Kongregate.

They have recently adjusted the drop rate to be properly depressing and slowing the progression down to a good pace. It takes you around 10-20 hours to get to the point where you can start building a proper base, then it's a matter of defending it from Zombies, or if online, from pricks. There is a LOT of crafting, building, cooking, medicine and maintenance recipes to find in books. At 25.25 hrs on my most recent character/world I finally found a sniper rifle. I took it apart to make molds of the parts I was missing molds for. Now I can be certain I can build a sniper rifle should I lose mine. The game makes you think about things like that early in the game too.

I would also like to say the dev group is fantastic. Compare that to the D-bag that runs Forsaken Uprising. First of all, that game is absolute trash with a bunch of sloppy premade scripts thrown together with generic purchased Unity store models and a terrible netcode. It's made worse by their underhanded practices of removing all negative reviews or comments from their forums on their website or Steam. They can't get rid of the reviews though, which are about 80 to 5 saying it's terrible. Avoid it like the plague.
