If you can get a rice crop growing, it's supposed to be extremely efficient for chemfuel conversion. Other then that, your best option is probably boomalopes; just one of them can easily keep a couple of generators going.

Wood->Chemfuel isn't worth it when you have little wood. Growing organics for chemfuel is a better option and I'm pretty sure boomalope and boomrat farming are the most efficient. It's also a handy way of dealing with raider corpses.

How do raider corpses and chemfuel connect? You can feed corpses to boomalopes?

Only in kibble will they eat meat. You can butcher human corpses and use the meat for chemfuel, though.

A few indoor hydroponic rice basins can easily create both a net positive in both food and fuel. It's what I'm doing in my current colony.

Doesn't butchering human corpses cause negative moods in your colonists? Unless you mod everyone to be sociopathic or something.

Yeah, he's a banned spammer. Normally we'd delete this thread too, but people were having too much fun with it by the time we got here.

It's everyone in the colony who doesn't have Cannibal, Psychopath, or Bloodlust traits. Relevant page.

Righto, Boomalopes! I had completely forgotten that they milk fuel. Off to tame some!

prepostedit: Naturally, there's no boomalopes on the area right now, despite having been a constant present before (I even had one go mad!)

I think they mean piling the corpses and starting a fire.

I butchered humanlike is a stacking -6 penalty to mood that a non psychopath butcher gets, "we butchered humanlike" is a non-stacking -6 penalty to mood that all non-psychopath colonists get. Butchers also take a -10 hit to social opinion from non psychopaths. It's nasty business but if you have one psycho to do the butchering and the whole colony can eat the debuff one butchered pawn produces enough meat to, when processed at a refinery, run a chemfuel generator for a week.

might need to remove some other animals on the map, then booms might appear on the RNG random ones wondering in.

"We Butchered Humanlike" doesn't spread outside of the colony where it happened. You can send out a single psychopath to process your bodies and bring back the meat. Sadly this trick doesns't work with organ theft or prisoner killing.

Unrelated: Was hunting a tortoise migration when a caravan came through. The six living tortoises went manhunter and a single tortoise went after the caravan.  They decided the best response was an ill advised combination of melee charge and grenade spam. After two of them were dismembered the guy with the incendiary launcher realized he hadn't done anything stupid yet and missed the tortoise, setting two other caravaneers on fire.

Characters can heal themselves if "self-tend" is checked on in the health menu on their character sheet. It is off by default, because tending own wounds gets a penalty to success rate.
