Randall put his cards down and asked one of the guards for the time. His eyes glimmered blue briefly as his gaze cast itself up, before looking back at Randall.
"About three thirty, according my clock. Why?" A look of recognition hit him shortly afterwards.
"Oh, oh right. Door's unlocked if you want to go."Hearing what he wanted, the survivor looked to Wilmer. The balding man snorted,
"I had a shit hand anyway."Affairs in order, the door was soon opened and the monolithic steel portal began its slow descent, with its expected metallic screeching accompaniment.
"We should really get someone to oil that thing or something, else I'm going to start bringing earplugs."It wasn't long before the pair found themselves outside the bunker, in the small squat concrete building that houses the monolithic entrance. The air was thick and the very light seems to be dampened outside, filtering the already minimal sunlight from the rising rendered sun.
Only steps out of the building, Randall's comm clicked to life as Marion's voice came on, introducing herself along with where she was going. Her last words were less than inspiring, but a good sentiment all the same. Death
is bad, after all. More important matters were at hand however, he had to find where Harvey got off to.
Checking the HUD, it seems he scampered off to the store he and Samuel were last, a gunstore from the looks of it. Not too surprising considering his recent acquisition of firearms. Randall and Wilmer set out in the quiet very-early morning to find the wayward survivor.
Nothing stirred beyond the two men trudging along, and it wasn't long before the two found the building housing the store they wanted. Inside, the store wasn't particularly pleasant. Something Wilmer was quick to comment on, desperately trying to cover his mask with a hand to block the terrible smell of rot.
"Augh, that smells fucking terrible."The inside was shot up, bullet holes riddling any surface available. All the glass that might of once been in the store was shattered and missing, bits of stray glass the only hints as to what once was. A large pile of boxes sat in a disheveled pile in one corner, smelling absolutely terrible. Must be the source of the store's awful smell, and the edges of some of the boxes were blackened for some reason.
A more pressing, and distressing sight by far, however was further inside the store, just barely visible in a room behind the counter. Past an opened metal door was a man struggling against a horribly bloated, floating skin of what was probably once a human, black ash billowing out of jagged blackened stumps that once were its legs. Its whole front, from its stomach to its face, was split wide open and lined with barbed and blackened needle-like teeth that were currently biting into the man, the poor guy struggling half-inside of the bloated living skin.
According to the HUD, that poor bastard was
Harvey.
Just a bit earlier...Arms held at his side, the survivor was still prepared. With some deft hand movement, Harvey smoothly drew his revolver and revolved it until it was pointing where the whatever-it-was was grabbing him. Holding his breath for focus, as with his mask the ash probably won't enter his mouth or lungs, the man pulled the trigger rapidly.

A choice expletive was appropriate for this situation as the survivor quickly fumbled for a speed loader. Barely managing to smash one into the cylinder of his gun, everything went dark and bone-chillingly cold, sharp pains from his torso causing sparks to play at the edges of his vision. The equaling disorienting-as-distressing change didn't stop there, an intense pressure pushed in on his head and neck making breathing more and more difficult each moment.
Perhaps he should of taken a deep breath instead of holding it. His HUD was still visible in the inky blackness and only served to compound the situation as a red warning sign popped up with urgent status:
"WARNING! Air contaminant levels dangerous, possible filter overload!'That can't be good.
