stonesense vs. isoworld

Hi everyone,

Being new to DF, I'm asking my self a question that's surely obvious to you guys : are isoworld and stonesense redundant? Do they do the same thing? Can you give me a rough idea of what stonesense does that isoworld doesn't (or vice versa)?

Isoworld shows the map, the WORLD map.
Stonesense shows the map, the LOCAL map.

So Isoworld is only good for looking at legends and screenshots of a static world, it shows the roads and forests and sites...

Stonesense shows the much smaller scale, grass, trees, single creatures, workshops, every single tile in your fort.

They are not redundant, but fill different roles.

But stonesense can be zoomed out. Are you saying it cannot be zoomed out far enough to see the entire world?
also I susppose stonesense is real-time. Isoworld is only a snapshot of an exported map, am I right?

But stonesense can be zoomed out. Are you saying it cannot be zoomed out far enough to see the entire world?

Stonesense can only show what you see when playing in a fortress, that is your NxN embark area. It does this live, while playing.

Isoworld provides a visualization of the entire world map, but not live while playing
