Very strange coincidence?
« on: December 10, 2013, 03:34:37 pm »

I recently had 6 migrants arrive in a new fort. When examining two of them, I noticed they were both married. The interesting part is that one is a jeweler, the other is a gem setter. They both worship the same god, Borik, who is a female dwarf associated with gems. Finally, the husband is ALSO named Borik, as if he was named after the god.

Anyone else find this weird, or have their own weird coincidences occur?

Hah, that's awesome.  I had an migrant animal trainer with the surname "Roughwhips."  Fitting enough.  Then I noticed that his wife's surname was "Whipfondle."

I once had a dwarven civilization named The Mechanical Mansions, which inspired me to think, "Hey! I'll build a fort themed around a wholly mechanized defense, with no military at all, just every single kind of trap/waterwheel/lever/axle thing I can think of. Totally dorfy. I'll call the fortress Gearguarded, and the Engineers and Architects shall be its ruling class."

The randomly chosen name for the expedition leader? Cog Wheelmesh.

I had a young couple (late teens, early 20s, around there) who were both rangers, which was kind of neat to imagine actually.

That sounds like an epic fort!

Got an architect show up in a migrant wave a while back. Name of Ultrafortresses.

He died to a giant bat shortly afterwards, but that's beside the point...

It might have been, if I'd known what the hell I was doing, and had picked a site that was worth a damn.
