If you mouseover the symbols, you can discover what they are. Please stop trying to craft with interface elements. You need a Fourth Wall Shop to do that.

GM unidentified; must therefore assume this 'GM' is a mythical material or heretofore unknown special power unlocked by level up.

Search for this 'GM' and mine it if possible, or unlock it with levels eventually to build fourth wall shop.

Make an anvil from the metal,
Make a hammer from the metal, (Provided we have enough metal for the next step, use a rock if we don't)
Make a pickaxe.

If you look at the OP, it says anvils and hammers upgrade the forge.
