Recommend a game from 2005 or earlier

It's a very broad request so I'm going to blurt out a bunch of PC games I've enjoyed over the years.

Majesty 1
Eradicator
Civ 3 and Civ 3
Shogo
Septerra Core
Forsaken
Icewind Dale
Descent 1 and 2
Ancient Domains of Mystery
NetHack
Simcity 2000, 3000, SimTower
Outpost 2
Red Alert 2
Quake, Malice for Quake
Master of Orion 2

That's a bunch of action games, RPGs and strategy stuff.  If you want to emulate console games I can give a bunch more.

Majesty 1 is indeed pretty fuckin' sick, and it's even on Steam!

Disclaimer: I don't know how well they'll work with your OS but I think they are worth a look.

Commandos 2 (Very well made tactical/squad based strategy)
Gothic 1 + 2 (wonky control scheme but it works well when you get used to it, good rpgs that got a bit overshadowed by morrowind, graphics haven't aged so well)
Lionheart: Legacy of the crusader (great setting, nice story/side quests, first half of the game is very well made but the second half was rushed and it devolves into a mindless hack 'n slash)
Heroes of Might & Magic 3 + 4 (HoMM3 is often considered the peak of the series but HoMM4 is a very good game too. HoMM4's expansions are subpar compared to the base game but are usually cheap enough to worth taking them.)
Battle for Middle Earth 1+2 (decent strategy games if you are into LOTR).
Star Wars Episode 1: Racer (A very decent racing game, it got recently updated for newer OS from GOG)

Bring Kobold Kamp to LNP! graphics compatibility fix.

So the conclusion I'm getting here is that we use QSPs because dwarves can't pilot submarines.

Sorry for cross-posting, but...

So... are there no real mobile colony sims?! Or am I just using the wrong search words in the Play store? I'd be alright with the most abysmal DF clone, really, just anything in the same genre I can play on my phone.

Seems bizarre that there are no such games available for Android...

I mean, there's dungeon keeper mobile, widely regarded as among shittiest P2W crapstatic extravaganza of shit that EA could have done with the IP, in the manner that only EA can really do. Total Biscuit: This is why we can't have nice things.

I seem to recall there was a Fallout vault-sim at some point, surely it was for mobile.

I'd wager any example would be replete with "you don't have the resources to do that but you can buy 1/x resources for y^100 monies."

If you are referring to Fallout Shelter, yes it is a mobile game.  It's kind of lime SimTower in some respects, but on a smaller scale, and underground of course.

So recently picked up A Legionary's Life.
(found here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1058430/A_Legionarys_Life/)
First of all I was absoutely enthraleld by it, but secondly it has left me with a desire to play other games where you can play as an average soldier in the Roman Legion and also more games of similar genre (its a bit like King of Dragon Pass).

Can anything think of similar games?

I'm searching for some strategy game  with little rpg elements, something like xcom / heroes of might and magic but without battles (no micro management), only decide where to battle or improve economy.. any clues ? (no paradox game)

If you want something with strategy but no battle micromanagement, there's Majesty.  Majesty 1 is better than 2.

I'd second this recommendation, but make sure to try the demo before you buy because the combat really isn't for everyone. It does get the legionary bit down though.

Oh wow, Age of Decadence is AMAZING, it actually is an RPG where your choices pretty drastically changes the outcome of each stage--not to mention the specialization required. I love it.

Any other games like AoD? Not that I'm even close to done, but this has rekindled my interest in CRPGs.

Preferably ones that are extremely stat driven, story driven, and encourage exploration. While I'm having the time of my life with AoD, I can't really get into the Baldur's Gate series. Same thing with Pillars of Eternity, although PoE 2 and Tyranny held my interest for slightly longer (mostly to get to the end of the story).

EDIT: I heard Darklands is really good?
