Pointlessly big, needlessly complex and absolutely no practical utility. It's perfect  :D
Why not use artifacts as playing pieces?

I thought artifacts were bugged - that they'd get lost between one save and the next.  If that's not the case, though, artifact items would be perfect.  I guess I'll need to experiment a bit.

If that's still the case I think you could work around it by making a building with it.
And one idea about the cards: back 3 spaces = get thrown back 3 spaces by champion wrestler.

Watch if you like, what I need are PLAYERS.  Monopoly by yourself is just sorta...dull.

This sounds like fun.  I'd need to brush up on my Adventure mode skills and the railroad/utilities forts sound like they are above my current skill level, but I'd still like to play if thats ok.

Success!

I think this crazy game's finally ready to begin.  I'll PM 4Maskwolf but then it's bed for me.  (This is the second night in a row I've spent trying to whip this crzy game into shape - my brains all marshmellowy)

this just sounds *perfectly* sane. Give me dat spot on teh list. Time for some try-hard adventuring

Also: Do I need a catchy name for my sect to get my fellow count going?

Nope, you just need to decide which deity you want your artifact to symbolize (You can choose at the time the first artifact is made, if you'd like - it's often a religious experience for the artifact maker that they survived the process.)  Your sect will form around veneration of that artifact as a physical representation of a deity that also happens to be the True Face of Armok.  Every dwarf in this world knows that Armok is the one true god, it's everyone else that are wrong about how He chooses to show Himself to His creations.  Can you imagine how embarrassed those other fools will be when they realize they've been worshiping Armok's left testicle, and calling it His face?  Hopefully, they'll be embarrassed TO DEATH. (Serve 'em right).

So your sect's full name will be "<name of artifact> the <item type>, the most holy relic of <deity>, the True Face of Armok".  However, you can shorten that to a nifty acronym or just refer to the item type when you are not trying to impress the heathens and those idiots from the other sects.  Of course, if you should happen to want to think up humiliating names for the other sect's useless baubles that they claim are holy relics and attempt to throw them out of any handy window, that's perfectly permitted.  That's called "theological debate".  (Don't believe me?  Just read about the history of the word defenestration).

I think I'll end up as Armok's rear kidney, which won't stop me from representing the true look of blood and magma he casts on us. What's wrong with his damn anatomy, though?!

It will certainly be a refreshing twist in the debates, everybody hotly espousing this or that is the True Face when your sect pipes in with a blistering diatribe about how they're all missing the point entirely, how it's Armok's KIDNEY that's of prime importance.

(This'll be a great game, I can feel it in my spleen.)
