Collaborative storytelling game.
« on: January 20, 2014, 07:36:56 pm »

What I'd like to do is create a story written one chapter at a time, for a certain number of chapters. Each person that signs up would write a chapter on their turn, and then pass it onto the next, until a randomly selected number of chapters or cycles is completed. Would anyone be interested in participating, subject to agreements on the rules?

Turn order is:

Lord Shonus
Remuthra
GreatWyrmGold
WhitiusOpus (Not sure if this person is intereseted)
Ddynamo
Nirur Torir
Baffler
Fniff
Urist Mcdwarf

Well, I don't particularly care if anything gets "finished" so much as how the story develops.

As for rules, how do these sound:

1. Each chapter is 1000 - 3000 words long.

2. Each player has 1 week to write their chapter. If they cannot finish, post what they have.

3. Turn order will be based on the order of signup for the first "project", and randomly for any subsequent ones.

4. Subject will be determined randomly by me.

5. Any change in characters must be plausible. For example, a normal schoolgirl should not start performing master-level kung-fu moves without explanation. That same schoolgirl taking up karate after being mugged, and later using it with proficiency would be perfectly acceptable.

6. The project will last for 3d10 cycles, rolled by me.

I was just thinking about starting something like this the other day. I'll take a turn, but I'd prefer it be farther down the line.

Saying that it's been done before has been done before, too.  Nihil novi. :P  Maximum pretentious-factor, go go! :3

I'm somewhat curious, but I'm afraid I'll just watch for now.  Definitely a bit nostalgic, though. ^_^
