It depends on what state you are buying the stuff in.

Some states, such as Virginia, have an absurd tax on liquor as an income source. This is understandably unpopular, and can almost double the price of some drinks in comparison to non-tax states.

Tonight was a drinking night. We were originally just supposed to meet up for a small birthday celebration with a couple friends, but this spontaneously turned into a taxi ride into the city and a night out on the town.

At our first stop, I had a Moscow Mule, where they used a right and proper ginger ale that was properly flavorful and spicy. This served to somewhat calm my stomach after the taxi ride, something I've never been a fan of.

Then we started bar hopping... But every locale we visited was so fucking packed that we ended up just leaving immediately after, without even attempting to order a drink. After about five different stops, we finally found a place to spend the 3 AM last call.

I ordered a shot of Fernet and another Moscow Mule. The bartender (-in-training?) informed me that they didn't have any. Somewhat taken aback, I asked if I could get a rum and coke. Yes, that they could do.

I got a rum and pepsi. No lime.

The pepsi was flat.

Being DD for my friend group yesterday was fun, like it always is on the rare occasions we get together. Irony I guess, but not really. I'm not usually comfortable getting drunk with people I know. Strangers sure.

Tonight getting drunk and sharing old stories with my dad, while my friends listened in... p cool
They were in awe of a lot of his tales. He has a lot of good stories, is an excellent teller, and diplomatically filled a glass with 3 shots of gin.

Sipped one, then later pushed it toward me with a look while someone else was storytelling. I took care of it.

Night wound down with half of us watching old Twilight Zone episodes, skipping to the end each time we knew the ending. We were never wrong, heh, though some took longer.

Time feels so slow, here. In a good way, almost entirely. Friend's hand-mortared panang curry impressed my cooking-enthusiast dad. Because it fucking ruled

And he already approved our friendship yesterday, yay!
