Well, the holy trinity of armor, mobility and firepower really.
How often do battlesuits tempdie? has a battlesuit ever permadied?

The artwork relates to the encasing of the HMRC in metal by Pancaek during the Mission of Many People.))

@Radio
Yeah, stasis dementia takes a lot of lives, which is why I calculated the number of people who died at each level, vs the number who survived to the next level, completely ignoring those who parked at a level.  I think it was something like a third of people who were stasis'd, according to the character index?  Add people who are comatose on-mission, and we've probably got less than fifty active players.

As to mission being predictable, I don't see why.  Sure, at least one element will be, but the rest can be anything.  A squad of assaultsuits can be dropped to deal with an army of insurgents, but after they're dead, the players need to investigate how such a large army was raised so quickly.  Turns out, it was a mind control artifact, and mind control can penetrate armor...

@Lenglon
Yaroslav.  He had armor superior to a battlesuit.  I think we've had, what, four battlesuits?  Gilgamesh the mobility battlesuit, Toaster's long range battlesuit (which was nearly taken out by the Arbiter before Green Storm ruined the mission), Praefectus' assaultsuit (Which had to be dropped, though it would have survived otherwise), and Yaroslav's HRB.  We could also count Lukas, I suppose.  That's still a 20% lethality rate.

I know syv, it's what I recommended myself earlier as well. Good on you for actually doing it by the way. Maybe slap that on the wiki somewhere? Then, if we keep it up to date, we'll be able to see if the casualty rate (and the veterancy of said casualties) evolves over time starting whatever changes we might introduce here. Really take spess accountancy to the next level.

And sure, it's not like those categories would give the whole mission away, but I feel like 'danger/predicted difficulty level' would work better, and might be easier to justify in-universe as Steve assessing the situation (though for something like a mission that'll take place in small tunnels, the tag 'small characters only' can still be used).

Well, the holy trinity of armor, mobility and firepower really.

I meant it more in the sense of veterancy also depending on those other two factors, and not only armor. And mobility has often saved lives and prevented permadeaths, eg the end of m7. And of course, offensive power helps to actually make threaths stop being a threat, though the effect of that is less obvious than for the first two.

Well, Maurice is plenty squishy too, and on top of that he's a follower of fairly subverted "poke it with a stick" Milno-strategy, despite not consciously acknowledging the deviation.

To be honest, I don't want the lethality levels to change, or to change drastically (i.e. I'm in support of Lenglon's approach, if necessary). While some people do their best to survive (and maybe should be rewarded with some actual safety, as a result on in-universe action as was rightly mentioned), many don't; and then there currently is a certain sweet spot where the risks aren't overwhelming, and a man can gamble his life without outright sealing his fate with low/no armor. Several veterans enjoy living in that sweet spot, but, more importantly, its existence is favourable for new troopers who want to tech-up with their starting tokens instead of splurging on armor - so it is unadviseable to remove it.

...Kind of middle-level difficulty, to think of it - between the "no vets allowed!" missions and "no noobs without battlesuits/synthflesh!" ones; so if you do want to segregate players and make specialised missions, please consider adding this tier. "Lightly equipped veterans and bold newcomers are welcome", something like that.

I'm down with the idea of newbie mission/vet missions or different mission categories. Or maybe we could get some mission that are tailored to small teams of vets only?

Or we could have some "side missions" for vets that don't grant levelups, aren't primarely combat and only reward a few tokens/new artifacts/new armory stuff. I, for one, would love to go on a mission where it's just three or so vets who have to do some stuff like try and get some government to join. I want to stroll in there with a detachment of sods and give a rousing speech, maybe execute a few people

What I'm saying is, I wouldn't mind not going on the big missions anymore and do some behind the scenes/less important stuff for less rewards if it means having more balanced missions for lower leveled people so they can catch up.

Hmmm power level segregation might do it.

He should call it the "poke it with a dick" strategy.

But will it be full apartheid, or will there be a mixed-group middle tier?

If yes, wait in paradoxical motionlessness some more for it to find someone more interesting to bother, like our wonderful commander or something.

What bliss, to have such loyal, dedicated comrades  :)
