Desert island games?
« on: January 29, 2014, 08:19:07 am »

I'm looking for a game that simulates life on a tropical desert island (collecting resources, finding food...). Right now, I only know about Sims 2 Island for ps2; do you know any other game?

Well there's Stranded 1 and 2.
And Shiffbruch.

However Shiffbruch has minimal replayability once you complete it... but i'd still suggest that you try it out because i remember it being fun for the first 1-2 times i played it.

There's the Lost in Blue series for the DS, which is pretty good. It builds off of an old GBC game called Survival Kids.

Far Cry!  Ok not really...

I think that is vaguely the plot to Under the Ocean(which I haven't played yet and is in early access)

Notrium gives off that survival island feel, but it's set on an alien planet.

"Stranded" sounds like exactly what you're looking for. Personally my favourite 'lost and need to survive' game is notrium, though, where you're stranded on a planet, but not literally a desert island so I'm not sure if you care.

The PC version of Sims 2 castaway is much, much better than the console versions. Devs need to make more castaway type games. There are so many things you could do with the format.

Holy crap, why did I not start watching One Punch Man earlier? This is the best thing.

Wayward is pretty great, but is a roguelike, so be aware of that. Not sure what the win condition is but I know there is one.

There was a strategy type game I remember playing as a kid that had a bunch of different scenario's involving groups of people being stuck on islands. Collecting food/resources etc, making beacons and eventually boats to take some/all of the people away on some of the later scenarios. It was pretty good, for me as a kid at least, however, i can't remember the name of the game.

I'm happy to see the mobygames website to be really back at being usable, readable and functional after that big "redesign" that left it broke for months, with all the contributors that made it such a great database leaving due to the owners not caring or listening.

edit : looking at the mobygames board, the reason of mobygames "reviving" is in fact there are now new owners that bought it from the previous guys that didn't cared about it
