Weapons/Item Materials in the Raws?
« on: February 01, 2014, 04:02:09 pm »

Is it possible to define the material weapons/items in the raws? If a creature is carrying a weapon, how does DF define the material?  ???

DF chooses the material based on what materials are available to the parent civilization.

Thank you sir. That is actually cool, but I guess this means there is no direct way to pick materials in the raws.

If you mean that you want a weapon to only ever appear with a specific material (e.g. you only ever want a dagger to be made of gold) then you are right, there is no direct way to do that. But if you want a particular entity, say Humans, to only ever use Steel weapons, then you just need to make sure that their reactions only give them access to steel. So I guess it depends on what you are asking.
