Kudos on engineering too, always did love engineers, they were so great at detecting bs and such during the physics discussions I used to partake in a lot.

Good luck with getting employed!

Engineering is a great field choice, there's lots of jobs in that field. Are you doing a specific kind of engineering?

Dwarven engineering obviously.

He's the one that makes the saw blade traps with 87 serrated discs jammed in there.

If you don't create a magma-propelled submarine within a year, you must turn in your toolbelt.

Or a magma-propelled aircraft or spacecraft.

Or a magma-propelled aircraft or spacecraft.

Ok, so if we add an extra six months to the deadline, could you create an amphibious magma-propelled ATV? Preferably one with a ramjet attached.

why not just create a transformer that runs on magma. Get all in one. It'll be a Victorianox of amok's vengeance

You do realize that ramjets can only be used in very, very fast aircraft, right?
They don't use mechanical components. Because at the speeds ramjets are well-suited for, mechanical components are another liability.

OK, done with the engineering complaint.
How do you make something that runs on MAGMA? Not in DF, of course. In DF, everything runs on either water power, magma power, or beard/alchohol power. The last two are pretty much the same thing.

If ES turns out to be a geothermal engineer, I will be *delighted* :D

Simple, you fill a tank with magma after coating the insides of the tank with thermoelectric materials.

Also, Magma itself is an ionic fluid, meaning that you can get electrical charges moving through it from differences in ion concentrations. Its increased viscosity means you could have a pretty powerful ion exchange battery my having a tank with high temperature electrodes at the top and bottom of a vat of magma, that is basically basaltic (thick) magma on the bottom, and more sillicate bearing (thin) on the top.
