If you can't figure out how to make cheese, have Cowsea possess you to make some. You can reverse engineer it when you're done. If that fails, go !!BERSERK!!

While on the topic of Berserk, i wonder what her thoughts are right now? I'd assume something like this:

Talked with a deity lately.
Made a friend recently.

Was upset that a criminal could not be properly punished. [The guy who killed daffodil.]
Has witnessed death recently.
Lost a friend/love interest to tragedy recently.
Forced to endure the decay of a friend/love interest.

All in all, her mood should be pretty, pretty low. The attack/death of Daffodil alone would probably give her a -70 to -100, which is huge. We can assume that her mood is somewhere around 30 me thinks, which would be "unhappy", and very close to "very unhappy"

Higher a bit, since she did just successfully speak with her deity.

Misty enters a fell mood, butchers the guy who killed daffodil, makes a cloak from his skin covered in images of cheese, then goes back to cheesemaking, now that her mind is more clear.  Also wearing an awesome new cloak.

Probably not sane or probable, but would be... fair play?

She also did some work (milked).  It's even work that she wanted to do.  How rare is that....

Was upset that a criminal could not be properly punished. [The guy who killed daffodil.]

The axedwarf who killed Daffodil was (a) female, and (b) just doing her job.  It wasn't a murder, by dwarven law and custom.  The elves may consider it an act of war, but that's an elven judgment, and Misty hasn't associated with elves long enough to start picking up their values.

I don't think the gender is all that important. It was a Guard-Dwarf clad in tons of armor, no more infos needed, they'll die next siege anyways :P Oh, wait, we're not in a succession fort, she might actaully survive a long time...
And to (b): It's not a crime by dwarven law, true. BUT it still wasn't necessary, and Misty has most likely ill feelings for that particular dwarf and would love to see her being punished.

In Misty's conversation with Datan, it doesn't seem like Misty feels vengeful.  I suppose she might change her mind later, but so far I'm not seeing it.

The criminal is the overseer: selfish, bureaucratic and a bit genocidal.

The bourgeoisie are the real enemy in this comic! Socialist plump helmet revolution now!

It is a little-known fact that dwarven cheese cultures are stored in the beards, socks and mittens of dwarves.

I bet it's somewhere in the farmer's workshop.  Look for cheese cultures in the farmer's workshop.

This page says Misty is a dabbling Cheesemaker.  So, she lied to the Overseer of Shielddawn, just a bit.  No surprise... but if she's dabbling rather than totally unskilled, then she has either done it, or read about it in a book.  DF 0.42 for the books -- wouldn't have been a possibility when the story began.  So, she must have made cheese at least once.  She should know the steps.
