Ok, burrowing mechanics. The dwarf can leave a burrow if it's idling (it can only be assigned jobs within a burrow) or if it's on active military service. The exception is if a civilian alert is going on.
The forbidden door, however, cannot be passed until it's unforbidden.

You take a look at the exceptionally-made Cheese Figurine.

It's your most prized possession!  It's PURE GOLD and worth a BAZILLION DWARF BUCKS!

Actually, it's made out of wood and just painted yellow to look like gold, but it's priceless to you all the same.  You had put it on your dresser to remind you of your dream every time you pass by it.  There are hundreds of legendary blacksmiths and masons and carpenters and craftsdwarves out there, but hardly any legendary cheesemakers!  The only reason you can think for that is because it's such a difficult and prized profession.  Not everyone has the skills to make Masterwork Cheesewheels, you guess.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Ooh, you're quite proud of these!  You engraved them yourself.  They're so low-quality that they don't even have a value, but you think they're pretty.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

You briefly consider throwing a tantrum and kicking down the door, but throwing a tantrum was what got you locked in your room in the first place.

It was a really nice statue of the Legendary Hero Zon Lokumarak, too.  You're lucky you didn't get thrown in jail, you guess, but if Duke Mosus Bothonnazom hadn't been so...so unfair!...you wouldn't have lost your temper in the first place.

You're an adult now, and you should be allowed to make your own decisions.  If you want to leave the mountainhomes, you should be allowed to! You're an adult! You're 12!  But now you're locked in your room, and any minute now the migrant party is going to leave and you'll have to wait a whole nother year before you get the chance to leave.  You have no time to waste if you want to leave!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

You put the figurine in your backpack and spend several minutes contemplating your bed.  Like most beds made for the common masses, it's made out of stone block.  It is incredibly uncomfortable.

EDIT: Holy crap I just noticed that I IGNORE ONLY WHAT I CHOOSE TO IGNORE
Step 1:
>Move dresser
>Examine engraving behind dresser
Step 2:
>Remove/Deconstruct furniture and begin hauling to stockpile, spam job cancellation messages due to forbidden door until the Overseer unforbids the door.
Or, if that don't work,
>Remove/Deconstruct door with no tools, because that's how dwarves do.

Oh, this thing?

It's an old puzzle box.  Dwarves are notorious for elaborate and complicated puzzles and traps!  You've always had a knack for solving them.

You put it in your backpack.

The only thing you have inside the dresser is an extra pair of mittens.  You like mittens.  They make your hands easy to draw.

You stuff them in your backpack, too.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Oops.

Ah, ShieldDawn

The most glorious of all the Dwarven Fortresses!  Every dwarf loves their mountainhome, but it's the Fortresses that are the REAL pinnacles of dwarven culture, technology, and innovation.  Some are home to impossible feats of engineering, like mountain-sized cathedrals carved out underground, or soaring towers that touch the sky, or even leviathan statues carved right into active, living volcanos!

None of them can compare to ShieldDawn, though.  It's the resting place of Zon Lokumarak, the Hero of Mountains and his Artifact Spear, Shashmondul Vozbel Sedil, "Hellgraves, the Ravager of Angels", the most perfect of all dwarven artifacts.  You've wanted to migrate to the fortress ever since he was entombed there seven years ago, to pay homage to the greatest dwarf ever known and to ply your trade as a cheesemaker.  And you would be right now, if Duke Mosus would let you join the migrant party.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

You briefly contemplate apologizing to the Duke.  Maybe if you show him what a mature, calm, rational adult you are, he'll relent and let you join ShieldDawn.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

You engrave a picture of the Duke on your wall instead.

You were starting to run out of space on the other wall, so you decide to do it on this one.  You don't really like this wall as much, since it's not all natural rock.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

You admire your new engraving.

It makes you quite happy.

Deconstruct walls until you find another dwarf. Make cheese from this dwarf.
