Babyspear

Sounds like what hapens when someone gives birth in a danger room...
Well, there's the wicked kind of motherly protection, and then there's normal, dwarfy, baby-shields.
Legend say that this goddess defeated a hydra only with her spear and her +Baby Shield+.
Epic dwarven tales.

Later, it became a <<+Baby Shield+>> when it was encrusted with scar tissue.

Nice. The Divine Tragicomedy of Plump Helmet Man goes completely unnoticed, but Baby Shield gets four responses.

That said, later she converted the <<+Baby Shield+>> into a ¤Baby Chestplate.¤ ( XD Now to see if I can get away with this joke. )

Naturally, said <<+Baby Shield+>> grew up to be one of the other deities in the pantheon.

O'course! Everyone knows Uristobeard, god of Brain Damage! Truly a highly revered deity is he.

BabyShield, God of Children and Protection

It fits. Far too well, it fits.

Often depicted as a dwarven baby. Son of Arkmok's bride, CakeWine, the Goddess of Deception and Drink.

Deception and drink?  Those are the two main things you get from a Plump Helmet Man... Maybe she can be depicted like in Raul's drawing, but she is waited on by PHM, who are her sacred animals.  And sometimes when she is thirsty, she kills one and drinks its wine.  In return, she is said to have taught the PHM their deceptive ways.

Edit: Also, I vote for Babyshield (or maybe Childshield) as Goddess of Children and Protection.  She should be depicted as a dwarven mother holding a baby in one hand and a spear in the other.  On the surface, she appears to be protecting the child, but we all know better, don't we?  She is said to be the protector of the dwarven warrior-mothers.  Children killed by enemy soldiers while being used as shields are her most sacred sacrifice.  (Alternative: she is said to protect children, and by extension, all those who are protecting a child, so her most faithful worshippers carry their children into battle in order to earn her favor.  Whether or not this works is... debatable.)

The reason I drew the god of chidren as a man is because I think that motherly protectiom is a bit expected. Don't fathers protect children too? I also made him holding a plant to focus on the growth aspect of childcare.

Okay, so far for names we have:

God(dess) of Deception and Drink:             Cakewine/Kamin/Winebent
God(dess) of Fortresses and Conquest:      ???
God(dess) of Suicide and Reincarnation:     ???
God(dess) of Wealth and Gems:                Golddug
God(dess) of Children and Protection:        Babyshield
God(dess) of Knowledge and Rage:            Bookfire/Maddenedmined.

For suicide and reincarnation, I'd suggest Daggerfailed, but I've got nothing for fortresses.

I like Daggerfailed.

For fortresses, maybe Strongtower(s) or something equally simple, like Victoryramparts?

Discuss.

Incredible thread, read it a while ago and checked up on it today only to find I missed 10 pages of awesome, especially the nun's speech. How about The Rumored Rampart for the God/Goddess of Fortresses and Conquest? Figure forts are mostly largely rumors to immigrants/invaders.

That sounds like the name of a region or fort, though.

It was the name of a forgotten beast who attacked my fort recently.

For Fortresses and Conquest: BoatMurdered. Risen from the elven and elefantine ashes of Dwarven hell, BoatMurdered is Armok's fifth and favourite son. He is what drives dwarves to build in Evil terrains despite their "better judgement". He bequeathed his name to the fort that had his favour highest and will inevitably bring an end to every fort in the most creative way possible to please his father. He, along with his twin sister, Murdermaiden, is one of the two gods of Berserk dwarves and has a special place for all male Berserkers, with additional hammers, mead/sunshine fountains, and wives for each dwarf killed in a Berserk rage. However, he isn't all flames and murder, as he bequeaths large tracts of land with elven slaves to dwarves who successfully fight of Goblin sieges or lay siege to Goblin fortresses. This promise is what drives dwarves to Conquest. He is said to have gotten the name by destroying a galley in a berserk rage mere seconds after his birth. To slaughter an elephant is the highest form of sacrifice to Boatmurdered and every elephant slain in battle becomes part of his calavary. He is rumoured to be half-elf (from the elven ashes he was formed from), but he denies this heritage and smites everyone who claims this. However... Cacame Apebalded is rumoured to be his long-lost son. He has a long and luxurious beard, braided into rope that he uses to strangle enemies whenever he doesn't have weapons available.
