Leave the head.  Sneak around the zombies and escape.

+1 Say a prayer for him to both Cowsea and Urist. Something along the lines of allowing him rebirth with a bit more sense, and that if he is reborn within your lifetime you would like Cowsea to send him your way so you can make some fine cheese for him.

What the fuck. Is some random undorfed recruit now our new Darkwing? Hell, even Darkwing just managed to kill two clowns before he went down. It's beyond me that a frigging recruit in the Official Voidspawn Feeding Detachment managed a triple kill on Forgotten Armokhumping Beasts.

Why does everyone assume that the zombies are going to kill them? They acted in self-defense. They did nothing until attacked. They were building a road. They were more productive and helpful to the general population than every other character in this series.  >:(

On the plus side, the group is now a nice solid seven.  If Reg and Holt catch up, we can afford to sacrifice two more suckers and still start our own fortress somewhere.

'Cause we sure aren't getting all the way to ShieldDawn with THIS crew.

Also, I'm terribly disappointed in how few cheese-related solutions have been proposed recently.  We do have that cheese prayer, so . . .

Circumvent the zombies.  Instruct Lokum that you shall be doing tandem prayer whilst walking quickly.  You pray for Rimtar (to both Cowsea and Urist as noted earlier).  Lokum prays that Armok accept this blood sacrifice in return for zombies not eating your brains.

We have no anvils, picks or axes.  We have no food or booze.  We lost our only fighter, not counting Plumpy.  There is absolutely no way we are better off founding a new fortress.

Leave the head.  We can have a slab engraved for him when we get to Shielddawn.  And we'll probably say some prayers for him before we get there, once we're out of immediate danger from the zombies.  Just... one step at a time.

Wait a moment. Misty is not only worshipping the god of cheesemaking, but also Bob. God of Reincarnation. Maybe he can help, and bring back that poor guy back to life. Wasnt his fault that a mad smith bashed his head in with a hammer.

You go to pick up the severed head.

You change your mind at the last minute and decide to puke instead.

Notice how the zombies aren't coming after us. They're clearly friendly, upstanding citizens who have just lost one of their number to a pointless tragedy.
