And here I thought in DF-realm, the cheese pierces the lower body, tearing the guts.

One day, Toady will implement realistic food-swallowing physics.  Then a duplicate entry in the raws will bug the swallowing velocity.

It...it was probably just cave adaption kicking in.  Certainly not the dismembered head sent rolling in your direction, nope.

Maybe...maybe they're good zombies?  Y-yeah, that makes sense! It was just Rimtar, attacking them, so they-so they were just defending themselves...maybe if you explain that he's from a different generation, and apologize, they'll let you pass?

You shield your eyes as you get close.  You don't want to see what happened to Rimtar or else you might...get another bout of cave adaption.  You'll be fine.  You'll be totally fine.  Everything is fine.  You just need to apologize and explain that it's all a misunderstanding, and everything will be okay.  Wow...these guys smell awful up close...

Excuse me, m-mister zombie?  I w-want to apologize for my friend.  He...he thought you were going to h-hurt us, and he didn't mean to attack.  This is...this is all just a m-mistake, we're s-sorry!  If it's all okay, we'll just be going now.  We don't want to fight you, or hurt anyone, we just...we just want to go, please.

...

M...mister zombie, sir...?

Oh no.  Oh no, oh no, oh no -

...wh...what?

How did...?!  Who could have...??

Wait! There, in the distance!  Who's that?!

Some one came to help!  We're saved!  It must have been Shielddawn, it just had to be -

Wait a minute - are those elves?!?!?!

Hide anything wooden that you have on your person.

Oh, look! The zombies weren't friendly.
Kind of like in the game!  ::)

Loot either the axe or shovel.
Have other party members get the sword, whichever of those you didn't pick, and Rimtar's hammer.

Attempt to bandage the tree. Ask the farmer to season the fresh corpse.
Alternatively, pick up the kid as a shield.

Defy the filthy elves, grab the axe and cut down the tree, then claim you were just putting it out of the misery of the arrow the elves cruelly punctured the tree with!

But, I think these elves have to be extrmely good (Cacame-ish?) to save some dwarves, so maybe, you can go say hello to them?
Especially the guy with the flower, I like him.

Also, why did the nun picked up Rimtar's head with such a subtle grin?

My second turn's unnoficial goal was to turn everyone into vampires, and it backfired so bad, I ended up making the fort a more efficient, safer and friendlier place.

I wonder how long will it be before the author tires of your stupidity and kills somebody off again.

Run before the elves can capture us and sell us into slavery.

Swipe the head out of the Nun's hands and play keep-away while you wait for the elves.

Edit
If you hide your wooden things, you should do so outside of the elves' field of vision. No need to add lying to your list of crimes against nature.

No, take the sword since it's the only weapon available that does not have wooden parts.
