Hey evictedSaint! I was just re-reading the adventure so far, and telling my friend excitedly about how I had been 'dwarf-ized' as the Overseer Enir Twigappears ("An Earwig Appears", ho ho ho). I realized that the date that you uploaded Overseer Enir quitting her job, I actually quit my soulless, horrible job in real life (January 3rd). Are you a goddamn wizard?

I drew fanart (does it count as a self portrait?) of Enir to... celebrate, the hilarious coincidence.

Can't wait for the next update, but please take your time! I love your tale thus far and wouldn't want it to be bogged down by stress.

Wait, is Earwig a male or female, I tend to picture them as a large muscular naked man with flowing golden rockgod hair and strategically placed blood spatters... and was Enir Twigappears actually intended as an homage or just a happy coincidence?

Enir was graciously put into the story by evictedSaint after I got voted for in the fanart entry! My post is here.

I absolutely approve of everyone picturing me as Vanod at the keyboard.

The best way to demonstrate it to him is take a save of 40 year old fortress with 150 dwarves in it on a good sized embark with a volcano that just breached the circus and install it on his gaming rig and watch it bring his rig to its knees.

Anyone remember if eS is still doing midterms or if he said he was back and working on the comic? ( I've been too busy to keep track. :( ) It's cool if he's still doing his college things, since I'm doing the same. I just kinda wanna get a feel for when we'll see more of Misty and co.

Don't worry, more is still coming.  I had an unexpected hiatus this past month. A perfect storm of inconveniences aligned and I've been unable to make much progress on the start of chapter 4...which I had decided to make time-consumingly elaborate, since it seems underestimating how long things take is my defining character trait.  But yes, the next update is taking much longer than anticipated, so please bear with me.

Thanks for the reminder. Now all that's left to do is wonder to myself how I forgot that when I actually responded to it. Ah well. See y'all in April!

Hello forumites. EvictedSaint, this story has been fantastic thus far. I've been following since Thanksgiving of last year, so I figure it's only right that I make an account on these forums and thank you for your work.

There seem to be a lot of us lurkers floating around this thread, judging by the amount of new accounts posting here. Don't believe the reader count poll, your work has been a pleasure for many more of us than just those who stand up to be counted.

Honestly, I've probably spent more time reading this story than I have playing Dwarf Fortress. You've crafted a wonderful story out of the chaos and madness that is DF. Thanks for all the hard work you put into this!

The purple overseer hat weights heavily on one's head. Some would argue that the leadership of Doomforest is uneasy to bear for too long. Others would simply suggest that we don't craft the next overseer hat out of rutile.

Yeah. eS seems to be one of the leading causes of influx into this forum. I'm honoured to be his acquaintance in that regard. ( I was around at the beginning of LCM and have been following it since, we've shot the breeze about webcomic creation a few times since then. ) As an unofficial member of the unofficial welcome club I'd like to say: Welcome friend! :D I hope your time on the forums is awesome, and encourage you to fish around more than just this splendiforous thread for even more awesome adventures. I am glad to hear that you've already taken a shot at playing Dwarf Fortress - if you like it alright, I'd recommend finding and embedding yourself in a succession fort. If you don't have the time, try finding a community fort. ( If you're unfamiliar, think of it a suggestion based Fortress instead of a suggestion based comic. )

So in order to tide me over till the start of chapter 4, I decided to re-read the comic from the beginning today. Two things:
First, now I have a wicked craving for some cheese. Fortunately, there's some brie in the fridge.
Second, I'd forgotten how priceless some of the comics from chapter 1 were.
On page 16, the introduction of Reg and her.. enthusiasm.. for her job as a guard cracked me up. :D
