I like how Misty is bored senseless, but 95% of the readership here would be happy with comic after comic about the minutia of cheese making in Dwarf Fortress and adventures in making different types of cheese.

+1

I don't know about the rest of you but I've started making cheese in my forts. I'm not ashamed.
I usually buy cheese/sugar/other secondary food stuff from the caravan. Not particularly easier than producing my own, but it pushes their profits up a bit so they'll keep bringing potentionally useful stuff.

We should all assist with this as a matter of principle.

Accidental hiatus from forums (forgot they existed in and amongst other computer stuff)

Return, see several months' more TLC.
Time well spent, I guess.

Now then, about that cheesestamp...

Awesome (and unexpected number of) animations in those last updates.  Dang.  And welcome back: anything that implies your stress is managed (or, at least, manageable) is a good thing.  Thank you for making this thread!

So . . .

Are we trying to help Misty succeed or fail hilariously?  Because it's obvious that, without divine intervention, she's only going to succeed in making a fresh cheese at best, not an aged one such as is typically formed into a wheel.  (And one could argue that the intervention of holy milk will, at best, save her only from lack-of-skill.  It might not be enough to warp time.)

Yes, pray and clap hands.  Also, since she's right there, go and ask Cowsea for help.

it's the most important thing.

Also, I think that since in regular dwarf fortress cheese pops out fully made and ready to go, this should be the case here too.

. . . Despite all the necromancy/cheese magic discussion, I hadn't considered the possibility that the secrets of life and cheese (cheese and death?) would be engraved on a slab.

That would be a magnificent quest, and would sync up perfectly with the upcoming "leave the fort on quests" update. THE QUEST.... FOR THE ANCIENT SLAB OF ULTIMATE CHEESEMAKING LORE.

Yeah, a necromancer that used to be a cheesemaker writing a book on the secrets of life and death that accidentally included some recipes in his book/slab (only stuff to write on nearby, so they use it to take notes) and now everyone thinks that you need to make cheese to understand the secrets of life and death.

But we don't want her to be a necromancer because then everyone would hate her.

Find tablet on the Secrets of Life, Death, and Cheesemaking. Get bored reading the whole Life & Death part, skip to Cheesemaking, then toss the tablet.

On the other hand, she could bring DarkerDaffodil back to life.... that's the only intriguing part about it for me though.

I suggest using kilokittens. As cats are 10X the volume of kittens. That way, 50 cats would be .5 kilokittens.

100 cats would be 1 kilokitten.

The cheese menaces with spikes of kitten bone.

All I wanted to do was to give the kitten a dairy specialist to adopt and now I'm chuckling at cat murder.
