Anime in df and df in anime.
« on: February 19, 2014, 10:35:17 pm »

I wonder, what is everyone's thoughts on how various anime would turn out if they took place in the !fun! dwarf world, or the opposite with df in a typical anime world.

Imagine Attack on Titan for Dawrves.

I see. I was not talking about mods, I was talking about, as a discussion, what people think anime would be like in df or if dwarf fortress became an anime.

(that sounds cool. and your scp mod, with 173, it actually would be useful( only a tiny bit, against the titans in aot due to the neck weaknes X3)

In that case, the primary differences I can think of are:

1. In anime, the volume of blood in the human body is a constant (a buttload, by the English unit of measure), while in Dwarf Fortress, it is exactly correlated (R2=1) to the body size of the human in decimeters.

2. In anime, bandages heal everything outside of lost limbs. In Dwarf Fortress, you also need splints, sutures and crutches.

I see. so basically bloody either way?

And I bet all those "transformations" would cause many outcast if they where in df.

I think it'd look a little like this:

I was thinking of doing an entire comic for this thread but chibi-dwarf took me so long to draw (oh my god the feet) that I've had a rethink.

I could see the possibilities in this.
Also, I am pretty sure I have seen dwarf-like people in some Anime's before, or at least images of them.
Not quite sure where tough.. But from what I have seen, they certainly do not have such large eyes. :p

I was actually wondering if I had made them big enough.

Well, the drawing you made is good, but it dosn't look very manga/anime-ish in my opinion.

For some reason I imagine anime dwarves to have Brock's eyes.

Alll your comments are awesome!

And that picture is great, DG, the eyes look like they where shaped by Armok themselves.

And to that one comment, would Brock be an Over-sized Dwarf then? Or Dwarves under-sized Brocks?

Skull-shattering punches, tearing off limbs with teeth, logs and wheelbarrows thrown hard enough to embed them into ribcages, heroes that one-hit-kill enemies hundred times their size... Fist Of The Dwarf Star would be the best way to transfer DF to film.

I could see "log Horizon" incooperating DF in way. The setting (Humans trapped in a WOW like game) would lend itself too it. Alsoo insane megaprojects :P
