:I
Wolf I want you to tell me what kind of help they give there to gifted children and such.
Sorry, I'm a native English speaker and I still can't interpret what people say...
It really depends on where you live, but for the most part it is up to the parents to lobby school boards, find ways for their kid to excel, etc. The USA ranks gifted students as low priority for programs, it seems.

At least here they bumped me up a year :/
Is there some kind of organization for them? I thought about trying to join MENSA but I don't know how to do it from here.

Organization? None that I know of.

Yeah, all the USA know is bumping people up a year, but my parents refused on the matter. Also, I go to a private school now with far better academic programs, so I get to be challenged and with people my own age. Basically, you better hope your family has money if you are gifted. My family is upper middle class, so I can do things like go to private school. Others aren't so lucky...

Thank god for public university and scholarships. I'm the son of plain workers and I managed to get this far by being the best of my class.

Oh and you remember people talking about math or physics olympics? I did them in my last high school year.
Did you do any of them?

Assembler?  You poor bastard, you.
Heh.  Not quite.  Assembler is my favorite programming language.  I specifically searched out assembler-related jobs.

Your nerd cred is unparalleled.  At least you can always find a job (because no one else is crazy like you.)

Let me guess- you're the youngest person in your department by 15 years?
In so far as the mainframe guys/gals are concerned, I think it's about a 10-year gap.  The PC guys are more around my age or younger.

I lucked out with this job, because everyone who wants a mainframe programmer wants 5-10 years experience.  I got hired because they wouldn't have to spend months teaching me how to program in assembler  >_>

We do some things, like math competitions and science bowl and stuff.  I can explain a little more if you want, but the school I go to has people who are far better at that kind of thing than I am so I never get chosen.

I have.  My dreams are... unfortunate.

Mine are usually gravity related because I'm afraid of heights. In dream fights I usually fare well though :V

I once had a dream about a castle siege with all of my friends on both sides and everyone had medieval weapons except for a pair of AK-47's.  Dreams are weird things.
