It strikes me as ironic that a game would model a dwarf, which originated in a system that did not use hp bars, with hp bars.
I'm fairly sure that, at some point, DF used simple health numbers. That may have very well been in the version that Boatmurdered used.

Naw. We've always had the limb system.

This looks neat, though.

Didn't undead have health points? They certainly did in v0.31.

Yeah. That's undead. They used the normal system until that was broken for them, and a placeholder HP was introduced for that specifically.

I think Toady's changing the undead-HP system this next version, too. "Pulping" or somesuch was mentioned.

Anyway, as to the game, I shall download and play it momentarily.

Hard science is like a sword, and soft science is like fear. You can use both to equally powerful results, but even if your opponent disbelieve your stabs, they will still die.

Excited to try this out.

It also largely ignores established Dwarf Fortress lore (I haven’t played any Dwarf Fortress).
You should. You really should. :P

Edit: Played it through. It's really good - I was actually impressed. I'm surprised you didn't put Toady One or even Dwarf Fortress in the credits, though. (Actually, that makes me kind of concerned. Why didn't you put Dwarf Fortress or Tarn in the credits? :-\ Or even better, a link to Bay12.)
Also, the bosses were kind of GiantSpaceFleaFromNowhere, but, the fights were fun anyway.

Correction: where do you find the first weapon, 'cause I don't know where it is and keep being killed by the first creature.

Avoid the first creature. You'll find the weapon later - it's a crossbow. It only stuns.

I'm glad people are liking it! : D

Oh, believe me, I tried to play Dwarf Fortress. I really respect it, but I eventually found making my own game was easier than properly learning to play : P

And you make a very good point... I'm not sure why I didn't think to credit Dwarf Fortress/Tarn. Even if I didn't draw from it directly, it would have been a nice tip of the hat. If I release a patch, I'll include that.

As far as I'm concerned, the game is absolutely fantastic. It looks and sounds good, and it's really quite fun.

Well done, sir/madam.

Aye, excellent work all around. Wouldn't have minded some more DF references, but that's just me being nitpicky. Very great job. And glad to hear about the patch thing - who knows, you might draw some people to DF yourself. :)

More than worth the playthrough! Thanks to you and your team for making this, Eldiran!

I'm going to try it out, so I'll edit my opinion in later. Maybe. Possibly. I'm not good at sharing my opinion anyways.
